We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

Funded! This project successfully raised its funding goal on September 21, 2011.

Photo-main

A permanent installation featuring images of tiny bits of nature, enlarged and returned to the original environment.

I want to be able to print six of my digital images of leaves as large banners to be installed in my outdoor art installation in the woods. My goal is to have them installed in time for my Open Studio Tour October 15 and 16, 2011.

Here are the images. Each will be printed 48”x66” on weatherproof material. Their titles are, clockwise from upper left: “Leaves after Miro,” “Leaves after Matisse,” “Leaves after Géricault,” “Leaves after Picasso,” “Leaves after Cezanne,” and “Leaves after Dali.”

I maintain a permanent outdoor installation of large banners hanging in the woods around our property. Here are some examples of existing banners.

Currently I have around 20 banners on display and have now completed a new suite of images that I want to print and add to the collection. The new suite has got a whole back story of its own that involves heat, drought and the emergence of the 13-year cicadas this summer. I tell that story on my Bourbon, Dogs and Art blog.

This new images feature more complex compositions than the earlier banners and I’m excited at the prospect of adding these new images to the outdoor collection. Below are some digital mock-ups of how these new works might look in the woods over various seasons and conditions.

I’m hoping you will want to share in the project and help me make this expanded installation a reality.

The images already exist, I am seeking money to pay for the cost of printing, shipping and installing these banners. In order to achieve the best possible combination of image quality and durability, these banners are done on high quality, heavy duty vinyl, not typical of standard vinyl banner material. I then hang them between two trees with monofilament line so that when the light is right they appear to hover in the environment.

I am extremely appreciative for your attention and if we can make it happen I hope that if you're in the Saxapahaw area (just west of Chapel Hill, NC) you consider stopping by for a tour of the installation.
