Update #6: First round of premiums going on on Thursday
Hey hey!
I'll be sending out the first set on Thursday, and keep going until I'm done, hopefully sending out the last of them by Saturday. So keep an eye on your mailbox.. they're coming!
Update #5: Thank you!!!
We made it to $900! Thank you so much!!
There's still a few hours to go, but phew - we've made it to the minimum and the project will fund!
Thank you all so much for your pledges, for your confidence and faith in this project, and for being willing to take a chance on me and my wacky idea. It really means so much to me to know that you want to see this project happen!
Soon, Kickstarter will be contacting you to get your info so that I can get your "prizes" out to you. I hope to start sending things out by next week, so please make sure you get all that info in so you can collect your reward!
And THANK YOU again!
Be well,
xo - Amy
Update #4: Update #4: Mini-quilt!
Hey hey!
We're only $100 away from doing this thing!!!!!
I wanted to show you what the $50 pledge looks like. For some reason, I'm having a hard time photographing it under my current light conditions, but this can at least give you a sense of it.
Two things that have changed a tiny bit:
1. Note that the wording is slightly different (seriously just a tiny bit)
2. It's actually 7 x 9, not 6 x 9
But... here's the good news... I will also toss in a stamp for you!! I don't know why I didn't do this to begin with, because I meant to.
So for $50, you get a mini-quilt and a stamp!
In case you don't get the reference... it's quite a normal thing in art school critiques for professors to tell their students that their work looks "too feminine," and to mean it as a negative thing. Naturally, I have never heard of anyone critique someone's work on the grounds that it's "too masculine," but supposedly if you're work is "too feminine," that's a bad thing that needs to be fixed. It's a comment I got all the time when I was in art school about my work; now as a college instructor, I never let it pass unchecked or un-talked-about (yes, sadly, a lot of people still use that as a negative term). And even beyond the idea that there's something deeply wrong about the masculine = good, feminine = bad equation that is set up by it, it also ignores the fact that there are people in this world who like and respond to so-called "feminine" work, just as there are people who like abstract paintings, huge steel sculptures, and so forth.
Anyway! That's where it came from...
Update #3: Tiny collages!
Hey,
We're just $200 away from meeting my goal!! Thank you so much to all of you for pledging. I wanted to show you something I've been playing around with...
These are some tiny stamp collages... basically, cut colored paper, carefully (and with tweezers) glued to stamp paper. Right now the imagery is very basic, but I'm playing around with it and really loving it. And if you pledge $25, you get one!
I will post a picture of the premium you get for the $50 pledge later this weekend. Right now, I'm obsessed with cutting paper into tiny slivers, and oh-so-delicately lifting them onto the stamp paper.
Update #2: Tiniest Kickstarter premium ever!
I just started playing around with some stamp material and I thought I'd make a special stamp just to post here.
Here's two pictures of me and the stamp. The first it is in relation to me. Which is to say that you can see in this pic how tiny it is (my head is big but not that big). Not 100% sure why I took this picture, as we all know what stamps look like, but I was really loving how tiny they are.
And then after, is a closeup of the stamp. A really crappy closeup. The stamp reads, in my handwriting:
Thank you for your pledge on Kickstater!
Because of you, I will be able to make a lot of stamps and also encourage people to collect them and give them away for free! Hooray! Thank you - you are terrific!
love,
Amy Wilson

Ok, this was just a dry run, playing around with the materials. I can get a LOT more text than that on a stamp, just you wait.

Funding Successful
This project successfully raised its funding goal on May 19, 2011.
Pledge $5 or more Pledge $5 or more
Yay! I will send you a hand-written thank you on the back of an exciting NYC postcard!
Pledge $25 or more Pledge $25 or more
Hooray! You get a limited-edition (not part of the set for the album! it's another whole special thing unto itself!) stamp made by me specifically for this project!
Pledge $50 or more Pledge $50 or more
Yippee! You get the stamp above, plus an embroidered fabric work. Think of it as a mini-quilt... it's 6 x 9 inches, is a combination of machine and hand embroidery, and contains the phrase "I like works of art that many people consider to be too feminine." Take that, patriarchy! Looks great on a wall! (and comes with hooks on the back to make it easy to hang)
Pledge $100 or more Pledge $100 or more
Woo hoo!! You get two tickets to a launch party in January 2012, to celebrate the release of the stamp album and my solo show! You'll get your very own copy of the album and a fun-filled evening of booze, snacks, and art... and art-filled goodie bags for all guests. I will even make some (limited edition!) party hats!! But you don't have to wear them.
Pledge $250 or more Pledge $250 or more
Oh, you!! You get everything under $100, plus your name in the back of the album under credits. Everyone who gets an album will know what an awesome person you are!
Pledge $500 or more Pledge $500 or more
HOLY COW! You get everything under $250, along with a completed album. Yes, that's an album with all the stamps filled in! Only one of these available!
