A platform for local artists to display their work
Built is an arts festival for Chicago Artists and Designers who best exemplify the forces of creative change in this city. How does one go about creating a platform for such a force? We choose to build a city out of shipping containers. The festival is designed to give under represented (but awesome and hard working) artists an opportunity to get their work out to a large audience. Each artists is given a shipping container to alter into a gallery space where they can present their work. Participation in the event is free for the artists, and the materials are being donated by our sponsors and partners. Much of our funding needs are in place but more support is needed for art supplies, equipment, and build out of the festival in order to ensure this event is the best possible place for these artists to make their mark.
The uploaded video for this project is our video from last year where an 8-Car CTA train was converted into galleries for local artists.
