momentum builds...
Just a quick note of thanks to all those who've supported us so far with pledges, emails to friends, posts to Facebook and Twitter, and general word-of-mouth. We're one-third of the way into our 45-day campaign and have pledges from 67 backers totaling $5282. That's 35% of our $15,000 goal!
As stated in several FB posts, this is a good sign according to Kickstarter. Based on their statistics, projects that receive pledges of 30% early in their campaigns are 90% likely to reach their goals. But let's not rest on our statistical laurels! No, no, please continue to share this project with likeminded lovers of independent film, documentaries, W.S. Merwin, poetry, the environment, Hawaii, etc.
Over the weekend, we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to film William reading and speaking at a University of Hawaii-sponsored event here on Maui. Again we were reminded of what a singular and vibrant subject he is for a film. The packed house was moved by his readings, inspired by his dedication and commitment to environmental causes, and charmed by his wit and grace. Viewers of our film will be too!
We'll post another update in the days ahead, as there are some exciting potential partnerships in-the-works, as well as some impassioned donors circling with matching grant possibilities.
