I hope you are enjoying the holiday season and all the warm things that come with it. Dark Circles Contemporary Dance has been busy preparing for the second half of our 2013-2014 season.
It is part of our mission to provide people with a multicultural experience, to touch people through the use of universal values, aesthetics, and feelings. Next Friday, December 13, DCCD will join the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts World Dance Ensemble as guest performers for their fundraising event A Taste of the World. We will do excepts from our Korean-inspired Jjigae. Join us as we celebrate culture through the art of dance, music, and food and support the local community. Friday, December 13 at 6:00 PM at the BTWHSPVA Dance Department Studio. General admission tickets are $20 and student/senior tickets are $10.
Last week, DCCD dancers returned to the studio to begin work on my new creation White Day, which will have it's world premiere Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the intimate Hardy and Betty Sanders Theatre in Fort Worth, Texas. The work will feature the music of Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto and a few new additions to the DCCD family.
We have also commissioned San Francisco-based choreographer Louis Acquisto to create a new work for our Spring Series at the Sanders Theatre. Acquisto, a former dancer with Amy Marshall Dance Company and an alumnus of Southern Methodist University will spend two weeks with the company creating his work. Performances are Thursday, March 13 - Saturday, March 15 at 8:00 PM at the Hardy and Betty Sanders Theatre. Reserved tickets are $20 and student tickets are $12.
Thank you for your continued support. Stay safe and warm this holiday season, and I hope to see you at one of our events.
Joshua L. Peugh, Artistic Director
