Kat and Erica
Hello Backers,
It's been a tad bit since I sent an update. I had a birthday, a big one, and stayed away from the computer for a day or two. I missed you guys, though. Thank you for all the tips and notes of kindness. It's so cool to meet everyone.
This update is about me (Kat) and Erica. Long before I asked Erica if she wanted to star in an a "docu-vengeance" flick based on her life, we were just regular friends.
We met at Mount Holyoke College when she was a sophomore. She was standing with a mutual friend holding some (yes) VHS tapes she had checked out from the library, one of which was the film "Daisies" (more on that later). Erica can be shy and uttered maybe three words during this encounter, but as we were leaving I said something that made her smile, I don't remember what, and her smile gave me the sweetest, most distant warmth; I was enchanted. I imagine that this is how some of the boys who fall for Erica feel: "I made her smile!" Yes, she is a mysterious one.
Things, of course, became more normal after that. We went on a student road trip from Berlin to Paris. I cheered her on when she graduated. We fell off chairs and danced on rooftops. We grew up, both working office jobs in Manhattan and eating lunch together on benches in Soho.
In short, we became close. Erica and I have many differences. It would be easy to call us opposites. I think that's part of what makes this project special. We have two opposing ways of seeing and interacting with the world, and are teaming those up to embark on a crazy mission together.
Thank you for joining us! We are determined to help Erica send an unforgettable message to these guys and make a great short film in the process.
