About this project

Help Us Tell The Story of the Haiti Earthquake That The Media Overlooked.

*The video above shows a quick trailer of just several minutes of the hundreds of hours of incredible footage our teams have captured and collected - the stories are chilling, inspirational, and heroic

Entrepreneurs, Professionals, Attorneys, Accountants, Doctors, Students, Politicians, Non-profits Leaders, and countless others from across the globe responded to the Earth Quake that shattered Haiti in the early months of 2010.

Hundreds of hours of video footage has been captured documenting everything from the first responders hitting the ground to student led relief efforts attempting to restore a sense of normalcy in the various broken communities.

Help us document the hundreds of stories begging to be told - most shot by professional film crews in HD.

Every penny donated will be spent to allow us to complete a feature length documentary sharing some incredible events that changed the lives of not only those helped but the volunteers themselves.

With interviews of the Mayor of Port au Prince, visits from 3 star Generals, run-in's with the Prime Minister of Haiti, and incredible other influential individuals, the footage tells the story from every angle.  We aim to chop the best material into a 90 minute documentary that accurately exposes the failures, emphasizes the passions, and tells the events that the media should have covered but unfortunately overlooked.

The funds will go to immediately hiring post-production editors, a graphic designer, and audio engineers - to complete the team, review the material, piece together the story, and create an award worthy film.

Our goal is to raise enough funds to hire our team full time for the next 6 months so they may cut the footage well enough to make it to Cannes.

Thank you in advance for helping make that a reality!

FAQ

  • Our ultimate goal is $50,000 - this is the minimum we need to bring a director on board full time for 6 months.  This will also cover all application fees for festivals and post-production expenses.  Obviously with more we can do more (including animations, follow-up interviews, etc...)

    Thanks!

Law Students rarely miss their law school graduation without a very good reason. For Peter Groverman, the reason for missing his graduation from Villanova University School of Law last year was that he was attending the groundbreaking of a medical facility to be built in Haiti after the devastating earthquake of 2010. Peter attended the groundbreaking because it was the culmination of efforts by the R.E.L.I.E.F. Organization to help the country after the devastating disaster. Peter co-founded R.E.L.I.E.F. (Relieving and Embracing Lives Interrupted by Earth’s Forces) a non-profit organization that helps people affected by tragedy through the means of social media and volunteering.

Originally founded to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, Peter utilized the R.E.L.I.E.F. organization both to help Haiti recover, and to sustain future success by creating a solid foundation and improving its delicate infrastructure. These efforts included organizing 126 volunteers to travel to and help Haiti in the recovery process, raising $140,000 in donations, collecting over 40,000 pounds of cargo and over $500,000 in medical supplies, providing legal advice to help with the rebuilding process, building a tent camp for survivors that included a working plumbing system, distributing essential supplies and medical assistance throughout the country, and partnering with the City of Miami to create a state of the art medical facility being built in Port Au Prince.

In addition to his work with R.E.L.I.E.F., Peter currently is operating his own exportation and international distribution company. He invites anyone with a big heart to join him on future ventures - visit www.TheRELIEFFoundation.com
