Travel guide to nude beaches, hot springs, campgrounds, resorts and other naturist, nudist and clothing-optional places.
Two of my great passions are nature and naturism, and for the better part of 20 years I've been consumed with trekking to beautiful places to experience the great outdoors in the nude.
At some point, my love of nature and naturism intersected with my background in writing and my fascination with geography. (Anybody else out there waste hours and hours just randomly looking at Google Earth?)
Over the past several years I've devoted endless hours to developing a website that I believe offers an unparalleled level of quality information about naturist places around the world: NakedPlaces.net.
NakedPlaces.net is a guide to nude beaches, hot springs, campgrounds, resorts and a miscellany of other places to get naked. At this point in time, the website details places throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, most of Western Europe and a little of Eastern Europe. Documenting naked places, from the well known to the obscure, has become a bit of an obsession for me (and the rest of the world is a never-ending work in progress!).
I'm very proud of NakedPlaces.net, and I think it is a fun and informative way to explore the globe and get travel ideas to nudist destinations, but I realize that it has a particular shortcoming. It is a website, after all, and it is of little use as an on-the-road travel guide unless you have a perpetual internet connection.
To remedy this shortcoming, I've decided to publish the website as a series of books. To avoid the costs and constraints of traditional publishing, these will be E books designed for Kindle. Such a format will be far more practical as a take-it-with-you guide that allows you to easily look up directions, addresses and GPS coordinates, and it will be complemented with supplementary links for those times when you do have an internet connection.
The first of the E books will be devoted to Naked Places in North America, with information about 200+ nude beaches and hot springs in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean—not to mention approximately 250 resorts, campgrounds and other places of interest to travelers who seek a clothing-optional vacation.
I am keenly aware that there is a lot of inaccurate information about nude beaches floating around the internet—which gets multiplied repeatedly by lazy copycats. I am committed to not spreading bad information. Everything I write is painstakingly researched. I have first-hand experience with many nude beaches across the world collected over the better part of two decades, but I certainly have not been able to visit them all. In cases where I rely solely on other sources, I do not taken anything for granted. If I cannot verify a site's location and viability through multiple reliable sources, I toss it out. Furthermore, my goal is not just to inform you that nude beaches exist. I am determined that you will be able to get to them! A big gripe that I have about many nude beach guides, particularly online guides, is that they do little other than providing vague information about nudist sites with no specifics on how to find them. If you want to actually go to a particular place, you have to invest time doing more research. I do not presume that my audience is keen on a treasure hunt, and I'm not going to put my name on a guidebook without going the whole nine yards. I do all the legwork for you. When I write about a nude beach, I leave nothing to chance. For GPS junkies, I provide coordinates galore. You need only find your way to a logical starting point, like a major intersection or a freeway exit, and I'll guide you the rest of the way, letting you know exactly where to park and then where to go from there, with detailed and precise written directions reinforced by map links. I'm absolutely positive that you will not find more thorough descriptions of and directions to nude beaches than what I provide at NakedPlaces.net and will ultimately provide in the E books.
If the North America E book venture proves successful and worthwhile, I will follow with more editions: one for Australia and New Zealand; one for France; one for Spain and Portugal; and others for other parts of Europe and the rest of the world.
I think NakedPlaces.net attests to my devotion to what I do, and I'm eager to take it to the next level with digital publishing.
Thanks for your support.
