About this project

Hi all...we are The Pie Society. We just launched our humble pie company in March 2011 and have had a nice, steady stream of wonderful pie enthusiasts order our goods. There's just two of us -- Emily Ingle and Lindsay Leslie -- busting our buns making our fantastic two-bites-and-you're-done balls of pie called Crimps, as well as full-size pies and tarts. We love what we do and still have to pinch ourselves that this is our job.

We liken ourselves to two little terriers eager to bring our yummy pies to everyone in Austin (and hopefully outside of Austin once we figure out shipping...and cloning ourselves). But that's nothing compared to what we have slated in late November. We have been selected as a merchant at the upcoming Junior League of Austin's A Christmas Affair. OK...so there are 30,000 people who come through those doors and there are only two of us. AAACK!

We can do it. We know we can, with a little help from our friends and our cyber friends and our friends of friends...and Oprah?

Emily and I both have experience in the world of these kind of shows. We both worked at one of the world's largest PR firms, and Ms. Emily focused specifically on food clients and has attended many a food show herself. We've staffed shows for clients, managed the creation of their booths, did the PR to drive interest, created handouts, worked the media...yeah, we've been around the block. But, we have to have a LOT of pies ready to go before the event.

In our minds, we envision creating a mini-storefront of our dreams at the show (we don't have a storefront right now...delivery only) and the money pledged will go toward our sanity, which includes:

-- Hiring staff or culinary interns specifically for this event, including prep, staffing and wrap-up

-- Creating an AWESOME booth and experience for the show

-- Marketing materials specific for A Christmas Affair

-- Renting (and or purchasing) of much needed equipment, such as refrigerator or freezer space; more time in our rented commercial kitchen; newfangled devices that will help us make pies a lot quicker.

We are planners by nature and bakers by passion and know we can kick this show in the rump if we have the means.

Whatever you can do to help our cause we would be most grateful! Pies rule!

Emily Ingle was not feeling her corporate PR job and wanted to do something with her passion – food – and came up with the idea of a portable, two-bites-and-your-done ball of pie (a.k.a. Crimp). With her idea in hand, Emily reached out to Lindsay Leslie, who had been making from scratch and blogging about her signature pies. The two realized the common thread that would soon form a delicious, homemade pie delivery service with a twist for Austinites – THE PIE SOCIETY.
