About this project

Gypsé Eyes is a limited run art publication that investigates love and sex through design, photography, art, and writing. Run by a collective of artists and designers this project is a labor of love. Our goal is to create something beautiful and engaging that will incorporate work from artists we care about.

We are in the process of finishing our fourth issue The Magic which will be released this September.  We need your help!  This issue will be printed in black and white on high quality newsprint at a new large size of 11.5 x 16 inches and will be about 50 pages!  Stocked full of amazing work by some great artists and totally magical!

We are working to keep our production costs as low as we can so that we can distribute Gypsé Eyes for as inexpensively as possible (some copies will be available for free at physical locations and all online orders will be sold close to cost).  Our goal is to make this work available to the widest possible audience without compromising on quality.

Gypsé Eyes has been made possible in the past largely because of the generous support of our Kickstarter Backers.  This time we wanted to offer some exclusive bonuses only available on Kickstarter.

  • Magical Gypsé Eyes Bandanas.
  • Gypsé Eyes silkscreened, editioned poster designed and printed by Tyler Lafreniere and Annica Lyndenberg.
  • Custom silk screened, hand sewn, limited edition, wax sealed, paper outer case.  This case will be available in two color ways for black and white magic.

Our production cost for this issue will total approximately $2250.  This includes initial production, printing and distribution costs.  We are looking to raise $1500 or more of these costs here on Kickstarter.  If we're able to raise beyond this amount all donations will go directly towards producing the magazine.  Any additional funds we receive above and beyond our total costs will be put towards printing and distributing more copies of this issue.  Each additional 1000 copies will cost $500 to produce.  Reaching any of our funding goals will be amazing and every donation is a huge help!

Another way you can help Gypsé Eyes is by sharing us with your friends.  Posting links to this project and our website on your Facebook, Google +, Twitter, Blogs, Tumblr, etc. is an imessuarble help both in funding the project and sharing our contributors work with the world.  If you write a blog or other publication and would like any more information about Gypsé Eyes we would love to talk with you.

Thank you in advance for your help and continued support making this project possible, and stay sexy Kickstarter!

A little more info about Gypsé Eyes The Magic issue:

Each issue of Gypsé Eyes has a theme which is a central point for it’s content and design. We use this as a way of creating continuity in our content and for our contributors to use as a starting point in creating their work.  Whatever direction might be taken is open to their creative interpretation and vision.

We're very excited about this issue as we've graciously received work from some amazing photographers, writers and artists. Including:

A little more information about Gypsé Eyes:

Our content is commissioned from artists, designers, photographers and writers, and varies thematically across several mediums. Published in limited runs, using fine art and hand-made design techniques (such as silkscreen and letterpress printing) in the magazine’s production, with an emphasis on high-end composition, resulting in a publication that gives the touch and feel of an individual and collectible item.

Since releasing our first issue in February of 2010, Gypsé Eyes has been featured on various blogs including:
