The Hartford Museum Passport is designed to be carried by public school children in Hartford, CT and stamped by the city's museums. The passport will be printed and distributed to 7th and 8th graders in Hartford Public Schools (pending approval). At the end of a passport carrier's visit, each participating museum will stamp and endorse the passport.
The primary goal for the project is increasing museum attendance among children, particularly those who wouldn't otherwise be compelled to visit Hartford's valuable cultural institutions. This tool will give students literal ownership over their cultural education, a record of their experiences and yet another reason to visit the city's museums.
In backing the project, you are investing in Hartford's youth and cultural institutions. Plus, you get to enjoy your very own copy of the passport and get it stamped at each of the participating museums.

All money raised is going toward printing and delivering the passport, both to backers and schools.
The $3,000 funding goal will allow for enough passports to be printed for every 7th grader in Hartford Public Schools, as well as passports for backers of the project.
Any funds over $3,000 will go toward expanding the printing run, providing passports for more grade levels and/or musuems for promotional use.

Certainly. The passport will be printed in a saddle-stitched, pocket-sized, 3.5" x 5" notebook with a 100% Recycled chipboard cover and 100% recycled text, 70# white interior. The offset printing process will use vegetable-based inks.
Stamps have been custom-designed for each museum and will be distributed prior to the distribution of the passports.

In addition, the passport includes special discounts and admission to other Hartford-area cultural institutions, including Hartford Children's Theatre, Lutz Children's Museum, New Britain Museum of American Art, Playhouse on Park and Slant of Light Theater.
