WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

"The World Dances!" is a project of She's Got Hips Productions in Phoenix, AZ. This show will bring together professional soloists and groups from around the country to represent a variety of traditional dance forms. The purpose of this show is to celebrate the universal language of dance as uniquely expressed by the world's cultures. Joy is the fuel of dance! This universal emotion and its expression through movement is a shared experience and a cultural bridge. "The World Dances!" is a window into the universal language of dance and a celebration of this joyful art.

THE SHOW & WORKSHOPS

"The World Dances!" is set to stage on March 31st, 2012 at the Viad Playhouse in the Park in Phoenix, Arizona. This event includes 4 world dance workshops conducted by visiting performers, A'isha Azar from Washington and Michelle al Farfesha from New Mexico. These instructors will also headline the show.

PUTTING OUR FUNDING TO WORK

The funding we are seeking will help provide honorariums for our performers. Our expected costs are theater and studio rental at nearly $1000, plus $300 in printing promotional postcards and posters plus travel expenses for some of our visiting artists. Ticket sales are projected to cover these, but we would like to ensure that our artists are financially acknowledged for their contribution.

ABOUT THE PRODUCERS

She's Got Hips Productions is the dream factory of Mahin Sciacca, a professional Middle Eastern dance performer, national workshop instructor  and author of the internationally published "Daily Bellydance Quickies." Co-producer, Fayza Azar is an aspiring Middle Eastern Studies scholar and dancer with a particular interest in folkloric styles.
