Bad Badger Productions presents the Portland Premiere of Adam Rapp's Red Light Winter

UPDATE!!! - NEW GOAL - $4,500

You did it! You helped us reach our goal! Fantastic! $2,500! We're overwhelmed by your generosity. So - it's all over now, right?

Well, not quite. You see - this kickstarter goal was only a fraction of what we need to to actually make this show the true artistic achievement we've envisioned all along. What we know now is that the show WILL happen, and that means so much! But now, with our new goal, we can make the barebones set BETTER, we can make the lights COOLER, and we can make the actors more attractive, er, well, they'll still be the same amazing actors they were before, but slightly better fed. (Except for Brian, who's still losing weight. Maybe he can pay the rent instead.) We can pay our designers an amount that isn't insulting, and we can publicize the hell out of this thing so more people will know to come see it.

In for a penny, in for a pound? (We only accept dollars, though...)

You coming with? Let's do this. $4,500. Here we go.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE'RE DOING

Opening May 18th, Bad Badger Productions will present the Portland Premiere of Red Light Winter by Adam Rapp, playwright brother of famed Rent original actor Anthony Rapp. Opening May 18th at Brooklyn Bay Theatre and running through June 3rd, Red Light Winter stars Portland favorites Brian Allard and Andrew Bray and New York guest artist Jenn Gartner. The show will be directed by Jan Powell, revered founding artistic director of Tygres Heart Shakespeare Company, and recent artistic director of Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.

ABOUT THE SHOW

A finalist for the 2006 Pulitzer Prize, Red Light Winter tells the story of Matt and Davis, long-time friends on the brink of turning 30, who travel to Amsterdam in an effort to lift Matt’s persistent depression and allow Davis to sow of a few last wild oats before he settles down with his fiancée. Enter Christina, a French prostitute that Davis has purchased as a gift to cheer up Matt, who becomes a consuming mystery in both men’s lives.

Described by Times reviewer Charles Isherwood as a “story of erotic fixation and the havoc it can wreak on sensitive souls,” the show’s depiction of competitive attachment and the search for self in another “oozes sexual intrigue and tension” (Chris Jones, Variety) as it accelerates toward an unpredictable climax.

Red Light Winter will come out as a major motion picture in 2013, starring Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo and Billy Crudup.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

This show has star power, credentials, location and an opening date. What it does not have is you as a producer. We need your help! Even the smallest donation moves us toward our goal of $2,500 - but bear in mind, that's our minimum. That's what we need to put the show up. And we WILL put it up. But the nearer we get to our final fundraising goal of $7,000, the more and more awesome this show will become. And we want it to be as awesome as possible - and, we hope, so do you!

Please consider donating and enabling our new company the chance to properly set, costume and market this amazing piece of theater. We will happily discuss with you your specific funding interests and will broadly, via electronic and print media, acknowledge your donation, complete with company logo, if you so wish. Want to sponsor an actor? $500 and you've bought one. A director? That's gonna cost a bit more, but at $1000 you can say you've sponsored one of the premier directors in Portland.

This show needs your support and we humbly ask you to dig deep. In turn, we, too, promise to BRING IT!
