Goal Reached!

The $300 goal has been reached, which means that the Wisdom Project is heading to the East Coast at the end of October! Thank you to everyone who has backed this project so far! It's not too late for you to get involved with the project, and receive some of the work documenting this trip. 

Where the Wisdom Project goes from here:
Any further money raised in this campaign will go towards growing the project; to adding a west coast trip to the project, organizing community sketch events along the way, community art shows, etc. There is a nation full of people's wisdom, and as this project grows, so does its ability to capture and share that wisdom. 

About the Wisdom Project

Every person has experiences and stories that contain timeless wisdom. This fall, I will embark on a journey around the US to find 30 of those stories and record them in an illustrated sketchbook. The current plan for this trip is to cover the east coast, traveling by car, bus, train, and foot to go from city to city and talk about wisdom with people along the way. 

At the end of the journey I will have a sketchbook full of 'American Proverbs' - wisdom set in the context of our modern society. The sketchbook will then be submitted to the Arthouse Co-op's Sketchbook Project 2013 so people around the US (and world) can view the work and wisdom documented in the book.

Logistics:
I already have the flight voucher to get me to the east coast and back, and the $300 from this Kickstarter project will go towards food and transportation to get me to the cities in between. As of now, my planned east coast route is Savannah -> Richmond -> Washington, DC -> New York -> Boston, and whatever cities I pass through on the way. If this project gets enough support, I will expand the Wisdom Project to two coasts, and then start filling in places in between. 

About me

I graduated from Cal Poly Slo in June, co-led a summer exchange program to Asia, worked on a few freelance design projects, and was looking for a project that would push me to develop artistically when I came up with the Wisdom Project. I love meeting people, talking about life, traveling, and creating, and this project incorporates all of those things. The Wisdom Project will stretch me and is an incredible opportunity for me to grow artistically and personally, and then share the experience with others through the sketchbook and illustrations created on the journey.

$8/$12 - 3x5 / 4x5 postcard illustrated with things seen along the way, mailed to you from the city it is sketched in.
$16 - 4x5 postcard illustrated in COLOR.

$24 - Sponsorship credits for one page in the sketchbook (actual size will be smaller than pictured below, and much better incorporated into the page) and the chance to choose a topic of wisdom to be included in the sketchbook.

$36/$40 - 11x14 Giclee print of one of the cities I stop in, or one of the people I meet along the journey.

$84/$96 - 11x14 Original illustration of one of the cities I stop in, or one of the people I meet along the journey.
