About this project
What is Contemporaneous?:
Contemporaneous is a new music ensemble, based in New York, set on playing the music of our time. Contemporaneous seeks to dispel the myth that "classical" music is dead, and to usher in the next era of music—from the music associated with the word "contemporary"—Schoenberg, Stravinsky, Boulez—to the music of now. CONTEMPORANEOUS music. Contemporaneous consists of the finest quality young musicians from 4 different continents, many of whom attend the Bard College Conservatory of Music, and hail from other prestigious institutions from all over the world.
Headed by composers Diogo Ahmed, David Bloom, and Dylan Mattingly, Contemporaneous is a fearless group of highest quality musicians, ready to announce the coming of a new era in what used to be called "classical" music.

Why we need your help?:
Contemporaneous is dedicated to the creation of music from our time, as well as music FOR our time. In this vein, all our concerts are FREE, so as to provide the most music for the most people. However the rental of concert space as well as the paying of royalties to the many living composers whose music we play are not free. This is where you come in! Please help in any way that you can so that we can expand our venues and continue to pay these artists the money that they deserve!
Thank you!
Even if you don't have anything to give, please come to our free concerts!
