We love our iPhones! Our goal has been to extend the iPhone functionality in a fun and creative way. Over the years, so many great design elements have been left by the wayside. We wanted to re-introduce these elements to make the fun of cassette players and boomboxes relevant again in a functional accessory. We worked hard at minimizing the overall design to make it the world's smallest speaker dock with battery charging for the iPod and iPhone. If you're looking for a pragmatic and fun accessory that you can take with you everywhere - then the Audman is for you!
In our search for great iPhone accessories, we havn’t found one that has the feeling or features we were looking for. We found that most accessories are bulky, expensive, single-function and simply not fun or expressive. That’s how we came up with the idea to combine the features we were looking for into one well-designed accessory that celebrates the iPhone’s audio roots.
The Audman is perfect for running, biking, hiking and a day at the beach. It's also designed to be with you the entire day: wake up to the Audman at your bedside, use it as a stand to listen to music in the morning, conveniently carry your iPhone with you on your way to work, listen to music through the integrated speakers at the office, share a mixtape with a friend on the way home - all while charging up your iPhone!
With all-day use and outdoor activities in mind, we designed the Audman to be minimal in size so it’s convenient to carry with you everywhere and loaded with useful features. It’s super easy to use: simply open the door and slide your iPhone in and it will automatically dock.
Our amplifier circuitry powers two mini-speakers on the rear side of the Audman so you’ll always have a boombox with you wherever you go. An integrated high-capacity rechargeable battery powers the speakers and can also be used to recharge your iPhone. It's like the radio/docking stations that so many companies make except we succeeded in miniaturizing the electronics so it's ultra-mobile. We placed a headphone jack on both sides of the Audman so you can wear it how you want, carry it in either hand or listen with a friend. The analog style buttons and volume control interact directly with your iPhones music library, and other services such as Pandora. Plus, our free upcoming app will bring back the fun of mixtapes. The belt clip on the rear side also folds out to serve as a handy stand. We knew you wouldn’t want to sacrifice style for durability so we designed the outer shell to be high-strength ABS plastic to protect the iPhone and used a high-quality finish.

Here's an example of a custom Audman. We'll work with you to help you select your own color scheme and to produce your own logo on the front cover. Great for businesses, startups, organizations and teams to promote themselves with a catchy custom product. How cool is it to have your own!
With our engineering and design backgrounds, we worked hard over the past six months to design and build a series of working prototypes which you see highlighted in video. We consulted with manufacturers to ensure all the pieces will be ready for production and will work seamlessly with the iPhone. We even met personally with our sourcing and manufacturers to make sure everything will be ready to go at the close of the Kickstarter campaign. The result is the Audman: an accessory we think you will love.

There are five standard color options: yellow, white, black, red and blue. All with grey trim, pushbuttons and volume wheel. We have also introduced a custom color option - choose from thousands of color options. We will work with you to select the exact color you're looking for.
We designed the Audman for the iPhone 4 and 4S and the newer iPod Touch models and will be officially supporting these models.
Our integrated app won't work or autolaunch with older iPhone and iPod models, however the other functionality will work (including iPod Classic and iPod Nano) although we won't officially support it.
As soon as the Kickstarter campaign closes, we will be able to cover the tooling costs and will proceed as quickly as possible with getting the injection molded parts, circuit boards, assembly and testing completed. Our target date for shipping out finished products is April 2012 and for custom Audman version the following month in May 2012.
Kickstarter backers will be the first in the world to receive the Audman!
We will keep you up to date via the 'Updates' section on our Kickstarter project page about all the developments along with photos and video along the way so you can take part in the process of making a new product.
We are still selecting the highest-capacity battery that will fit. Our prototyping battery has a capacity of 1500 mAh and we anticipate selecting an even larger one for our final product - ideally in the 1850 mAh range. This is on par or better than the capacity of leading battery case products on the market today.
Compare this to the battery on the iPhone 4 at 1350 mAh. So our battery has a higher capacity than the iPhone 4 which is great if you need a full recharge.
The speakers we chose are rated at 80 dB! The frequency response range is 200 - 20,000 Hz. The Audman can hold it's own against much larger, bulkier systems. It is quite challenging to get deep bass out of mini speakers and we've done our best to get as full, rich and deep of a sound as possible.
