While I will agree it's a bummer. I'm sure it's nothing Game Stick takes lightly. they have it set for release in retail 7/9. So this means they will have to tell retailers they are unable to deliver on time. retailers are already doing preorders. it will cause a hit for both retailers and game stick. I am sure they don't take the decision to postpone lightly. I'm not thrilled with the delay but in the end all I can do is hope that my Game Stick is worth the delay.

The newly posted games were not there a couple of days ago. Great they they finally added some new games and a much needed improvement on their game list, but odd that they chose not to inform us, their financial backers, about them. Even with these newly announced games, they are still woefully behind the ball.

When they launched Kickstarter they specifically mentioned Disney games. They have none in their game list. In their FAQ they mention how in todays Android market there are some "Heavyweight Publishers" that could take great advantage of utilizing the bigger screen. They deliberately mention SEGA and EA. You wont find any SEGA or EA games on their game list. If you ask Gamestick about the lack of games, as has been reported on CNET and other media outlets, or if you ask them if we will ever see ANY games from "Heavyweight Publishers" they will never give you an answer. This is the opposite of Honesty and integrity. Kickstarter requires that Project creators Communicate with their backers in an open and honest manner. They used Bait and Switch tactics. Remember when they said that we could play our Favorite Android titles on Gamestick? Hook people into believing that Gamestick would have a large assortment of games including some of the bigger titles available on the Android Market, then hide when backers ask you questions about the lack of games.
This new delay was no surprise to Gamestick. They have known for several weeks that they would never make the latests shipping date, but chose to hide the fact from their backers until the last minute (sound familiar, they did this for the first delay as well) This is why they abandoned their promise to provide Weekly Production Updates. They chose instead to hide the truth. Anyone who thinks that Gamestick has been Honest and Open with us Backers is quite mistaken.
Now while I agree that getting it right and delivering a quality product is important, and that sometimes Delays are a good thing, hiding the truth about production schedules until the last minute is disingenuine at best. They should have continued with the promised Weekly Updates, and let us know right away that things were taking longer than expected. Refusing to even discuss their Game list and the plans for getting some A list games on the system is no where near the "good faith" transparency that is a Kickstarter Requirement.

If you check "Games" page on gamestick.tv, you may notice a bunch of new titles (including AVP Evolution, Another World, Raiden Legacy, Unearthed, Naught 2, Mercenary Kings, Badlands etc.) that were added recently, I guess, somewhere around last week or so.

I am getting sooo disappointed... I hoped this project will be different than the others but its not..-its getting delayed, what was promised got broken and non-backers will most likely get the product before the backers...
You know - I am here more than one year and I backed several projects and until now I have no reward from any of these projects.
I said it many times before but now I mean it - I am so fed up with the attitued of all the project creators and their endless lies and promisses that I will really back no more projects here.

Now - GS, you promised to announce a new game every day before the launch... Until today, there is 34 (mostly) crappy games that I can play for (mostly) free on my phone. Thats not "hundereds of games" as promised before... Where are the games? Will be there some more games or these 34 games are everything what will be available?? I think you owe us answer for this question being asked so many times before...

@Cyclops, that's exactly right. In fact, they acted as if they never heard of or mentioned the "weekly production update", so I simply quoted them from Update #20 (the last paragraph) and they removed all my messages on Facebook as well as blocked me from posting. In their recent updates, they mention that the controller itself isn't important, but rather the games. They keep saying this and yet we don't see any new game updates.

The way they handle things just shows bad service in general. They're acting like Ouya right now, it's exactly as described in one of the topics, something like "OUYA Forum - The Day The Clown Cried: #2".

It is obvious that they have known for a while that they were not going to make the newer shipping date and decided to hold that information from us until the last minute. (Again) My guess is it's because they did not want to have bad news during E3. It is becoming increasingly clear that integrity is a foreign concept to the Creators of Gamestick. This is why they did not meet their promise of Weekly Production Updates. It is also probably why they refuse to discuss the lack of posted games. They spoke a great deal about games before they had everyones money, now they avoid the subject like the plague.

A little disappointing. I was hoping for this to arrive to me in Korea before I go home on Midtour so I could bring it back to the states. Now I will most likely have it after all the non-backers. How does this name reserve work? I at least want to make sure I can do that, if all the non-backers are going to have it before me.

So, do I take that update to mean that only the people who did design by me will see this thing before it hits retail stores? Do you know how bad that looks if that happens? If some random shopper ends up getting this before one of the non-Dev people who funded you it will really be ridiculous. Anybody else that thinks I'm just whining about this needs to really ponder what it means to take other people's money and deliver a product late and to other consumers before the very people that enabled your project lift off.

I will Agree very well said Boone & JJ as well I rather have another delay and wait longer then getting a piece of garbage, OUYA is getting many complaints because of lack of communication and delivering a unfinished product, delivering a strong product is key. I know you are working hard on the gaming side which is the other key, the more games the better of course. please make sure allow custom roms and rooting, hackers will push gamestick to another level. XBMC compatibility is great news. overall I'm bummed but I thank you for your honesty and for trying to develop a fully tested product.

Delay delay delay! I love it! That just means that you guys have standards! That you are detail oriented! That you want to send us a finished product not a beta machine with ui bugs, and sticky controls etc.
NO issue with the delay - but i do like the comments below - @Boone - plus 1 on your list!

I am bummed by the extra delay, but hopefully in that time, you guys can look at what others, namely OUYA, are dealing with and take proactive steps to ensure you don't fall into the same traps.

1.Boot to recovery, custom rom compatibility is HUGE for devs and tinkerers.
Heck just being able to recover from a bad OTA update is critical to end users.

2. Good developer relations, a console is nothing without games. We will soon have fragmentation between game stores with GameStick, OUYA, Google Play, and Amazon. Anything on this front to make it easier for users (maybe allow raw apk downloads?) is great.

3. XBMC with controller support. XBMC is simply awesome, but if you have to hook a mouse/keyboard to the unit, it is less TV friendly. Having a plugin or build of XBMC that uses the native controller well is crucial.

4. OUYA screwed the pooch with shipping, many had to pay exorbitant fees, and others are still waiting, with retail launch just a week away. Be honest with shipping. I would prefer you to tell me my unit is waiting to ship, than for you to lie and say it is en route.

Shipping - Pretty sure they have said before Europe orders will be sent in bulk from China to UK, and then shipped out from there? I may be wrong, but I that is what I believed.

(Read this as: I am 98% sure that is the case, but I await something official)

I suppose as it is going to be selling in Game UK, it may well have made the crate to UK easier and more financially viable. So, it is likely a good thing for us that happened and they are getting them around the same time ;)
