WHERE DO MY CONTRIBUTIONS GO?

Our goal is to make Beatrix*JAR Handmade a lucrative business stream.

We're asking for your contributions to help us with our business start-up costs. We have a big list of things we need to take our idea further: A California Business License, Fabric, Supplies, Notions, Web Design - imagine - animated birds and cats, a new camera (Did you see that video?), an online shop and catalog, product tags, recycled packing materials, marketing and our time. We'll also consult with a toy professionals about putting our idea out on a larger scale.

WHY ART PETS?

We call our creations ART PETS because they truly are one of a kind, handmade works of art. Our aesthetic embraces variations as personality traits. Our patterns are improvised and we choose fabrics and patterns based on a creative whim. We pride ourselves in transforming normal materials into extraordinary ART PETS.

For years we made our living as an experimental sound art duo offering Circuit Bending Workshops paired with one of a kind experimental sound art performances. Our work has been featured at museums, art galleries and universities all over the country.

BEATRIX*JAR HANDMADE HISTORY

After receiving a 2010 Archibald Bush Fellowship in Media Arts we took a creative sabbatical, stopped touring and turned our attention to SEWING! Sewing you say? Yes, Sewing! We both find it meditative and relaxing. We are self taught sewers and in our free time we created and sold handmade BIRDS on our merch table - because what's better than a handmade BIRD?

During our creative sabbatical we cultivated our birds. Jacob started designing handmade cats and then the world of Beatrix*JAR Handmade was born.
