There are between 6 and 10 participants in EAST/WEST's artist residency / exhibition program every month. Over the half a year, we will bring talented individuals to Berlin, introduce them to each other, house them, exhibit their work and share secrets. Now we are taking steps to raise funds to feed them.
Our goal is to raise a minimum of $2500 USD.
If we hit this goal, it comes to only $13 USD a night to feed a lot of mouths.
We are creative folks. We've cooked up delicious dinners on this budget for the past month.
Raising $2500, we'll get by.
We raise more, and well, that would actually be icing on the cake.
(On kickstarter - this site - its better to aim low and reach high. If you miss your goal you get none of the funds pledged but far exceeding it is a great feeling for all.)
And to show our gratitude to those who donate...
We're offering SCRUMPTIOUS INEDIBLE REWARDS:
- a series of 5 photographs (one per month/exhibit)
- taken by the EAST/WEST artists of "The Last Supper"
- they eat together in Berlin before returning home.
Its a new perspective on an old theme that we find extraordinarily appropriate to show our appreciation. "The Last Supper" photographic series references the iconic idea of sacrifice / giving depicted throughout art history. More than just photographs of emerging artists in the midst of becoming rising stars - EAST/WEST's "The Last Supper" series documents a moment in time these artists spent together, in a far-away place, shaping what was next to come.
Essentially, your donation towards feeding artists is simultaneously fueling the creation of "The Last Supper Series."
What's that? You asked for more?
There's also placemats full of doodles by EAST/WEST artists and marketing opportunity for those with big appetites .
DIG IN!
EAST/WEST will get wursts and the brots and donners and you'll get the art.
Now that's "good taste".
Yours truly,
Leah Stuhltrager, Paul Middendorf, Jackie Friscia,
the teams from Dam Stuhltrager and galleryHOMELAND,
and all the artists of The EAST/WEST Project
