Dear fans and supporters,

Thanks to all you guys we have been able to do some amazing things the past couple of years all without the support and backing of a traditional label: we have released three albums to high praise, with our last cracking the CMJ charts. We have toured the country several times to some nice applause and amazing adventures. We have chosen a completely independent route, which means we don't have to compromise the music an inch. And we owe this to you guys, our supporters.

We (Sunset) have just finished recording our best album yet. It leaves the others far behind. But we are still without a proper label, which means if we want to release something, we have to do it ourselves, pay for it ourselves, market it ourselves... whew.

Yes, to properly release, promote, and distribute this upcoming album will take some help. For example, we want to put it out on double lp -- no small feat. We also want to promote the music to radio if/when that opportunity arises. We have done some of this in the past, but we think this next record will take things far beyond where we have gone previously.

As ever, the best way to get the word out about our music remains live performance. To this end, we will embark on MegaTour 2010: across the U.S. in our "White Whale" van, and then across the pond to Europe, playing every open mic night, dive bar, radio station and living room we can find; bathing in every hot spring, sleep outdoors every night. -- going further and faster and harder than ever before.

All along our tour, we will be writing haikus, poetry, and taking lots of photographs, which we will turn into a book. ( This book will be made available exclusively to those who help with this Kickstarter page. )

Such ambitious plans require a large amount of cash, which we do not have.

Which is why we're appealing to you fine folks; we have decided to partner with Kickstarter. This website helps messy-brained dudes like us stay organized with our fundraising. It's designed specifically to help people fund creative projects, and if you help contribute to the cause, you will get some cool stuff in return.

For example, if you and some friends can round up $200, we will work a private show for you into our massive tour.

$5 gets you a download of "Moonlight" (from the album) + access to special video updates from the studio.

$10 gets your name and link on our website! Sort of like a mail-order bride, but for internet websites.

$20 gets you a digital copy of the album before its release.

$40 gets you an autographed copy of the album and special old-timey group photograph.

$100 gets you an official "Thank you to..." in the album's liner notes.

$200 gets you a special collage / painting by Bill ! Each painting / collage that gets sent out will be incorporated into the album artwork in some way.

$300 gets you your own show if it's possible along our tour route

And any contribution of at least $60 will get you a deluxe edition of the album, with a special book of photography, writing, and some limited edition video.

We are really interested in taking a huge leap forward in 2010... please consider helping any way you can. We really will not be able to do this without your support.

Our $4,000 goal is really just the start. If we have surpassed our goal, please still consider making a donation; the more we receive, the more we'll be able to do with this album!
