Welcome to my Kickstarter page, and thanks for dropping by. I am very excited to announce my upcoming recording project, A Bird Will Sing, and hope that what you find on this site will inspire you to learn more and become part of this project. We’re going to be here on Kickstarter until September 17th and have lots of exciting things planned!

As some of you know, a few years ago I released Closer Than Far, my debut CD, produced by the extraordinary Brad Albetta. We had an amazing time creating Closer Than Far, and the CD was released to a sold-out room at Joe’s Pub here in NYC in 2008. People liked the CD, calling it "A richly melodic, stylistically diverse masterpiece." — Lucidculture. Lots of folks have been coming to shows since then, we’ve had some nice radioplay and made a video, too.

I have continued to write new songs, and now, after exploring and developing this material for a couple of years, my band and I are ready to start a NEW RECORD!

Together with my beloved band, Julian Maile (guitar), Rob Jost (bass) and Robert DiPietro (drums), the new songs have evolved beyond anything I imagined and have become really special. The music has taken hold, it’s soaring and flying and bursting -- so now is the time to head into the studio to record!

I'm thrilled to be making this new recording with legendary Producer Anton Fier!!! It will feature music performed by all of us plus some special musical guests! Even a few old family instruments that I have from Switzerland will make appearances. We’re looking forward to getting started and want to record our album with the care and attention it deserves - and well, HERE’S THE THING: it’s gonna cost money.

You mean making music as in indie artist costs money?!

Yup. In fact, engineers/producers and musicians all need to be paid for their work. Studio time is expensive and even if you’re smart about things, everything costs money, including mastering, artwork and reproduction. So what we are saying is that WE NEED YOUR HELP. We’re not asking for something for nothing here. We invite you to BECOME PART OF A TEAM! What Kickstarter offers is a method to microfinance projects - YOU become a backer of the project by “pre-ordering” a CD or other reward, choosing to support the project at a level that works for you. Then, because you have helped to get the whole thing started, WE are able to make the music in the studio, shine it and buff it and get it to you. Funding the project in fact Kick-starts the whole damn thing into existence. IT’S SUPER COOL.

Just in case you’re wondering, there are musical prizes and also EDIBLE PRIZES. If you want just a digital download, contribute $15. If you want to invest a little more, you could get my special HOMEMADE LEMON HEART COOKES (Yum!). If you want to have a HOUSECONCERT IN YOUR LIVING ROOM, you can have that, too. There are many different ways to participate - and we’re asking you to become involved because you’ve expressed your interest in my music over the years.

Making music is an interaction between the artists and listeners. It would be so amazing if we could make this thing happen. I can’t do it without you!! ALSO, BTW, IF WE DON’T RAISE 100% OF THE MONEY HERE, WE GET NOTHING. But if we do, A Bird Will Sing gets made and I am sooo excited about that.
