What is "Worst Night To Grow A Pair"!?
"Worst Night to Grow a Pair" is a love story... between a man and his bar. After months of searching for a replacement for the ultimate dive bar 'The Jungle Room', Rex decides to reclaim his favorite watering hole only to find his ex-girlfriend- Becks, and her bachelorette party of slizzards raising hell. If that isn't enough to derail Rex's plans, ousted comedian- Rambis, arrives to unveil his newest material. What the 'Jungle Room' patrons don't realize is that Rambis is not only unfunny, but violently unstable and determined to perform his set at any cost aided by his savage, nut-bag manager- Mandrell. When a hostage situation overtakes the bar it is up to Rex to protect his one true love, 'The Jungle Room'.
Who are we?
Ty Huffer and Matthew Burtner (aka Big Vis) have been making films together since 2004. Ty began at the tender age of 19 with his first short, "Boogie Man", a Hi-8 homage to talentless break-dancers. Already friends, the first major collaboration between Huffer and Burtner was on Matt's no-budget feature film, "Off Camera". The pair have since collaborated on over a dozen additional shorts and the award-winning, no-budget feature, "Bite Size", an 82 minute dark comedy about a man tormented by a talking shark living in his hot tub. Their music video "Looks of LA" won both the audience and jury awards at the 2010 Seattle True Independent Film Festival. Their most recent short, "Ego Boost" won the 2011 Seattle International Film Festival Three-Minute Masterpiece contest. They are ready to take their brand of storytelling to the next level. The level with a budget.
Will Chase has been making films happen in Seattle for years now. He is all about taking a Directors vision and making it a reality. In the last four years, Will has produced or production managed over 14 projects, including Feature Films, Shorts, Commercials, Industrial Educational Videos, and Music Videos. This will be his first film as consulting producer, and he is ready to "jib it up" with Frankenhuffer Productions. Will's other current project is MemeBlastMedia.com Check it. Then check and like their FB page.
What are those past videos we've done?
"Ego Boost" won the grand prize at the 2011 SIFF 3 Minute Masterpiece competition.
"Looks of L.A." won the audience and jury awards at the 2010 STIFF music video challenge.
Do you really need $15,000.00?
Yes. $15,000.00 is a LOT of money but it's the bare minimum for getting this production off the ground. We've dipped into our no-budget bag of tricks to get the budget as low as it is. There's just some things we can't cut corners on:
- We will be shooting on location at an unbelievably ideal bar but we have to rent it.
- While we have generous friends willing to lend and some of our own, a production of this size will require some equipment rentals. You know little things like lights, a camera with professional lenses, c-stands, flags, sandbags, etc.
- We'll have a large cast and a full crew that will be working long days. They're going to get hungry.
- Speaking of the cast and crew, we'll be working with professionals and professionals get paid for their work. Look at that, we're creating jobs!
- Set insurance... Better safe than sorry.
- This is a dark, violent movie. We need the blood to look real and special effects ain't cheap.
Thank you so much for supporting our Kickstarter! We greatly appreciate all the help you can give us; whether it's money or spreading the word, it all adds up! Cheers!
Our good buddies and at Houdini’s Tree are going to continue to do our sound design and our original soundtrack. We couldn’t be happier! Honestly, these guys deliver gold by the barrel!
