I hope this finds all of you enjoying a wonderful summer, wherever you are, and however you are spending your time.
Thanks to you, If this world could stop is well underway, and I am writing today to give you an update on our progress! We began recording before we left town for the summer, and have loved working with Eric Wojahn, our sound engineer at the Solid Sound studio in Ann Arbor. He is FANTASTIC, and is just pulling together the final edits for our preview track, i live in pain by David Lang. It is a gorgeous, haunting piece of music, written for 3 equal voices (in our version, I sing all three parts), and I can`t WAIT for you to hear it!
Next week, recording continues in Chicago as Timothy Munro (flutist from eighth blackbird), Robert Dillion and David Skidmore (from Third Coast Percussion) and I come together with extraordinary composer Amy Beth Kirsten to record her L`ange pale, the stunning piece she wrote for Tim and I in 2010. I have had the pleasure of performing this piece several times, and I could not be more excited to get into the studio with these gentlemen.
Chris and I will be back in Ann Arbor in September, and can`t wait to continue our work on the album! In the meantime, I am thrilled to share with you the image below- this is our promo poster, featuring some of the artwork from the album, created by the amazing Adrienne Justice. We feel so honored to be collaborating with her, and remain so grateful for the sensitivity and thoughtfulness with which she approaches her work.
More to come, but please know how much I appreciate your support- none of this would be possible without you.
All best wishes,
