Sacred Soul, an action-packed tale of immortals in modern society, the challenges they face, and the pain they're destined to endure...
Hello! My name is Jack Guffey and I'm proud to introduce to you Sacred Soul! I'm raising a relatively small amount of money to get the production of this graphic novel I created up and running. The story has already been started, I just need the funds to get it produced. My process is simple:
1. Raise money to get the story drawn by an external-source artist (I can't draw as well as this series deserves).
2. Use funds to get the volumes physically produced.
3. Pay for the shipping of the volumes. (International backers, please provide an additional $10 for shipped rewards. Shipping will be free for backers in the United States!)
And that's it! Simple, right? The video above shows the details of the story and my plans!
Want to know more about the story, characters, etc.? Check out the FAQ section at the bottom of the page!
Visit the following link for more information on the story and characters!
And check out the awesome pledge rewards on the bar to the right!
Continued support even after my goal is reached would be greatly appreciated of course, and any profits from the first volume can be used to fuel the project and advance the production and distribution of the full series!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me with the link on this page!
This is a sample of a few of the characters, Machi and Eliza! Check out more about them and other characters in the FAQ and on my blog!

Ryga is an immortal man in current-day society. Immortal people have been appearing occasionally in the world. Whenever a person drinks even a drop of the Water of Life, which is water from the Fountain of Youth, they are stopped in time, never aging and healing all wounds. The Water of Life can evaporate from the Fountain of Youth, often turning into rain and entering select reserves of drinking water.
Occasionally, a few people in the world unknowingly ingest the Water of Life, becoming immortal. A special raindrop-shaped mark appears on each immortal's body called an Immortal's Mark. Ryga's personal mission is to seek immortals out and bring them to his private school. He personally trains each immortal to work through the pain of wounds while helping them find their own special way to help the mortal people of the world.
Ryga has a special program in his school. He helps each immortal individual deal with the pain of wounds level by level. He starts with low levels of pain (a needle prick) and works slowly toward high levels of pain (extreme bodily destruction). He sends them on missions to help people depending on the level of pain they can endure. While on these missions, immortal people find their own purpose in life, learning to use their powers in different ways. Ryga may be the teacher, but the students will have to learn the final lesson for themselves.
Ryga's favorite student, Machi (or Chi for short), is an immortal teenage girl. She supports Ryga's personal mission and tries her hardest to work through her pain. She wants to reach the level that Ryga has: to work through any amount of pain. Ryga works with Chi the most out of anyone, but only inflicting the levels of pain that she specifically asks for. The relationships between the students and Ryga grow over time and they all work toward their personal goals.
Age: 21 (500)
Personality: A happy-go-lucky kind of guy, but he is serious when it comes to teaching his students. He is the kind of guy who likes to pull pranks, but not as much as Lyle does.History: Ryga ingested some Water of Life unknowingly while drinking water from a stream in the year 1531. After figuring out he was immortal, Ryga researched how it happened, started his personal pain training, found other immortals, and started his school for immortals.
Goal: To find as many immortals as he can, teach them, and help them realize their purpose in life.
Immortal's Mark: Over his heart
Age: 19 (19)
Personality: A happy person, cheerful all the time. She is very determined and just seems to fit in. She tends to change the subject of conversation abruptly, but it doesn't seem to phase her at all.
History: Chi had just finished her last day as a freshman at college. She was walking with her friends in the rain when she started catching raindrops on her tongue. There was some Water of Life in one of the raindrops, but Chi and her friends obviously didn't notice. Chi and her friends went their separate ways and started walking back toward their houses. When Chi was crossing the street, a car suddenly hit her. Chi regained consciousness to find her damaged body regenerating itself and the car that hit her nowhere in sight. Chi started to go into shock, but a man calmly walked up to her and explained that she had become immortal. Chi was confused, but the man explained the whole situation to her. He introduced himself as Ryga, insisting that she come back to his private school with him. Still traumatized, Chi agreed to go with him when he said that he could help her. She is the sixth person to join Ryga's school.
Goal: To work through her pain training and find her life purpose.
Mark: On the back of her neck
Age: 25 (466)
Personality: He is knowledgeable due to his age and experience, so he has a special authority position in Ryga's school.
History: Randy is the first person to join Ryga's school. Ryga found him and convinced him to join 441 years ago. Randy ingested a drop of the Water of Life during an attempted drowning by an unknown assailant. After hundreds of years of completing missions assigned by Ryga, he found that his purpose was to rescue people that are in danger, as that was what he was best at.
Goal: To rescue as many people from dangerous situations as possible.
Mark: On his left bicep
Age: 24 (331)
Personality: She is mature, headstrong, and very frank with people. She sometimes gets sad when she can't remember something.History: Scarlett is the second person to join Ryga's school. Most of her past is unknown to everyone, including herself. She also has a huge scar on her back that won't heal, even though her immortality powers should get rid of it.
Goal: To heal her scar, find out about her past, and find her purpose in life.
Mark: On her right palm
Age: 18 (290)
Personality: He is a prankster, even more so than Ryga. He usually is stealthy and concocts elaborate and lengthy pranks. Strangely, his pranks usually involve self-bodily harm.History: Lyle is the third person to join Ryga's school. He ingested a drop of the Water of Life while drinking an unknown substance on a dare. Lyle met Ryga and found out he was immortal when one of his pranks got out of hand and "killed" them both.
Goal: To be the winner of the First Strike of Stealth Week or Stealth Week itself every year.
Mark: On his right forearm
Age: 12 (243)
Personality: She acts childish, but doesn't like being treated like a child. She tends to stick out her tongue a lot, especially at Lyle.
History: Eliza is the fourth person to join Ryga's school. She ingested a drop of the Water of Life while drinking a glass of water. Eliza met Ryga and joined his school after he saved her from her burning orphanage. She takes the missions that only a child can do because of her apparent age.
Goal: To earn the full respect of everyone at the school.
Mark: On the front of her tongue
Age: 17 (83)
Nickname: Blood Raven
Personality: She is listless most of the time, showing barely any emotion. Deep down she cares greatly for everyone.
History: Miya is the fifth person to join Ryga's school. She ingested a drop of the Water of Life when she breathed in some falling snow. Miya accepts the most dangerous missions possible because she has a congenital insensitivity to pain. This means that she cannot feel any pain at all.
Goal: To avert the pain of other immortals as much as she can.
Mark: Below her left eye
And several hidden characters, including the secret antagonist!
"What did you call it? An avoidable...?"
"Yeah. An avoidable death... Usually an accident."
"Yes, usually. Maybe Ryga will tell you that story one day..."
"The first thing Machi saw was Ryga standing by Miya as she slashed her own throat."
Ryga: "We do this for each new person we try to recruit to the school, so without further ado, I officially welcome you to Phoenix Academy! Now, the answer to your first question..."
A huge guillotine blade came down from the ceiling above Ryga, nearly sliced him in half vertically, and shot back up. His mangled body fell to the stage, blood pooling at an extraordinary rate. Machi looked shocked and horrified while the other people looked unsurprised.
Randell: "Always gets 'em."
The two halves of Ryga's body slowly started to slide back toward each other, the flesh meshing together. Ryga started to talk just as his mouth healed.
Ryga: "You see, we are all immortal. Everyone who is now in Phoenix Academy cannot ever die."
In addition to helping to get a interesting new story out in the world, you'd get awesome rewards! Also, any backer (no matter how much they pledge) will get their own work featured via the blog if they would like!
