Documentary on the contemporary Goddess worship in England, exploring and reclaiming feminine spirituality.
In Her Image is a a feature length documentary I have been working on for the past three years. After many test screenings it is now at a stage to ready to release. In order to continue I need completion funding for the sound mix and output of the film ready for theatrical release and to distribute it to film festivals and eventually onto DVD.
In Her Image Trailer
amongst the vast landscapes of the Somerset levels around Glastonbury
we follow the seasons of the year, marked every six weeks through the
pagan calendar festivals. Each change of season the priestesses and
priests of the Goddess, at the Goddess Temple in Glastonbury come
together to share the key moments of their lives over the past six weeks
and what they are feeling in that moment, relating that to the season and Goddess they have gathered to honor in ceremony later that day.
Each season one of the priestesses embodies the Goddess they have chosen to honor on that occasion. Through interviews they explain the essence of that Goddess and what she brings forward in the deep, internal exploration that they see as the Goddess within.
As philosopher, Michel De Certeau observed “there are many ways of believing. Belief is not limited to spiritual practise, it encompasses all aspects of life, from politics to how we chose to live and paradoxically we have devalued spiritual belief as it has become seemingly polluted and overwhelming. “ Certeau observes that no culture has survived the death of their Gods. Yet in Modern Western Culture, the very act of writing down the myth of God, of spirituality has been bringing about the death of our spiritual culture.
This film is about bringing the experience of the spiritual practise and of the true feminine, back into the everyday lives of a community.
It is this notion of rewriting the mythology and reclaiming the power of the feminine spirit in its full creative potential, the story we tell ourselves, that has inspired priestesses like Kathy Jones, to re invent the mythology, reclaiming the Celtic Goddesses of Britain, who were subsumed by Roman Britain and eventually canonized by the Church. These aspects of the true feminine, being deeply experienced and welcomed into the lives of men and women who are seeking authentic expression in their lives.

The film is now ready for distribution to film festivals worldwide, in order to get it seen as widely as possible. Festival entry fees and couriers add up very quickly to make it an expensive process. It also needs sound mixing and preparing for theatrical release. The good news its made, so it will eventually get to you.
The estimated date for getting the film to DVD is an estimate as it will depend on when and where it is premiered and screened at festivals.
My earlier feature length documentary, "A Letter to the Prime Minister, Jo Wilding's Diary from Iraq" in 2005 won Best International documentary from Al Jazeera in 2006. http://www.selvesandothers.org/article11037.html It was shown at human rights film festivals all over the world, its in university libraries across the US and the UK and has had a significant impact on many people who have seen it.
