Chocks Away! Spitfire Restoration Group to use 8 men and 15,000 hours to get 1945 Spitfire Mk.XVIe to top spec and back in the air.
There are only 60 flying globally! Thats how rare these amazing machines are.
We have a 1945 Spitfire Mk XVIe, part restored
It is a 1945 aircraft that is 99% present, correct and original. Our engineering team have surveyed the project and determined that only 3 minor components are missing namely the seat, rudder pedals and lower control column. This essentially will be a completely original specimen once restored, unlike some others out there.
We would use 8 engineers undertaking 15,000 man hours take the aircraft from current state to as close to original spec as possible thus retaining value. The Team have have extensive and specific Spitfire experience. Most Spitfire restos are re-machined and thus more accurately should be termed replicas. All original parts are present with this project. It should be noted here that this is a Merlin engine Spitfire which in itself is rare.
