PLUS our artist, working from your photo, will put you into rulebook illustrations, and your name will appear in the credits. You are sponsoring a whole 8" x 10” counter sheet, which will go into every copy of the game. We’ll work with you to determine what goes on the sheet and how it will be colored. The unit design will have to fit Ogre canon (no clown faces on the Superheavy Tanks, no overt advertising on the Ogres . . .) but that still leaves a lot of leeway. Your name will go on the sheet as sponsor, and we’ll send you at least a dozen extra copies of the sheet. This also includes everything at the $100 level. (Again, shipped anywhere.)

Your own exclusive 8" x 10” counter sheet. Want an Ogre with your logo on it? Want a squadron of pink GEVs? No problem. We’ll work with you on colors, design, and choice of dies. You’ll also be able to print your logo, name, or other stuff on the margins of the sheet. This could be a promo item for a convention, distributor, or big retail store. These sheets won’t go into the actual game. We will ship you at least 3,000. We’ll own the remaining copies but (unless you wish otherwise) they’ll stay in our warehouse for at least a year after the new Ogre game is released. If you want to resell your sheets, rather than just give them away, you’ll have to sign a licensing agreement to use the Ogre name and images, but that won’t cost you extra. This also includes everything at the $100 level. (Shipping free in the US. You will pay actual shipping costs outside the US.)

Your own exclusive 10.5 x 17.125” counter sheet. You must use one of our existing dies; your best choices are Combine armor, Paneuro armor, or a sheet full of Ogres. Time is short, so you must either provide your own art to our specs, or make the "paint" job simple. You’ll still be able to print your logo, name, or other stuff on the margins of the sheet. Your Own Ogre Convention. Steve Jackson will attend your 2-day Ogre event anywhere in the US or Canada (you can ask about other locations, but no promises!). You will need to cover Steve’s hotel and travel costs separately, and dates have to fit his existing commitments, so factor that in, and please talk to Steve directly (post a comment with your contact info) before you pledge! You also get four copies of the Kickstarter edition, your choice of $600 worth of Ogre swag or extras, and naming rights to one Ogre in the Designer's Edition as described for the $200 level. Steve will bring a large stack of party favors (including three of our prototype 3-D Ogres which you can use as prizes), run events, talk about upcoming projects, sign things, and other general convention stuff. Or you can do it as a house party and only invite a few people. Your call.

Just noticed this...
OGRE movement on the Record Sheet for the Mk3.
Instead of the way it is,
How would it be to list "Movement of M3" to where it says "(Movement drops to M2)"
Then "Movement of M2" to where it says "(Movement drops to M1)"
Then "Movement of M1" to where it says "(Movement drops to M0)"
It would be more at-a-glance obvious as to the OGREs movement rate
at any given moment.
Creator Tim Kauffman on May 11, 2012
"I'm still Steve Jackson". XD
"OGREs walk over most things..." :D
This Legendary KickStarter just proved it in trial runs with flying colors.
Steve...Grats to you and everyone at OGRE Command!
So awesome seeing you give a demo of your first game.
I remember playing OGRE on the kitchen floor of my friends house back in 1977?
when it fist came out. OGRE is a gaming Legend(.)
Good call on making the Unit Counters smaller than the Hexes on the Maps.
*David...Unit Strength showing on the Disabled side of the counter would be really nice to see.
+1
Creator John McClain on May 11, 2012
But now I want to know if the Oger got the CP (guessing it would't escape).
Creator David Rock on May 11, 2012
Looking at the disabled units, shouldn't the attack strength be displayed (maybe without range), since a disabled unit _can_ attack in an Overrun? I know that's a special case, and has nothing to do with Ogre (being a G.E.V. rule), but seems like it would be helpful in gameplay.
Creator Christopher Schenck on May 11, 2012
"We might make it to $800,000" ... yeah, give or take $123,680.
:-D
Congrats on the overwhelmingly successful campaign! Now starts a flurry of activity for the folks at SJG, and about 6 months of waiting for the rest of us.
Creator inqrodya on May 11, 2012
Bzzzp... SJ, you are awesome!
Creator Michael Jacobs on May 11, 2012
All I get is audio and a green screen, I've had this problem with outer kickstarter videos as well and kickstarter hasn't been exactly helpful. Anyone have any ideas? Running Chrome with Windows 7.
Creator fotostuf on May 11, 2012
You demoing that game just brought back SO many memories! I have an original OGRE, and if my dates are right, got it when I was 16... damn I'm old!!
Thanks for the memories!
Creator sgbeal on May 11, 2012
@Justin Youngs: based on one of SJ's comments ("...which really surprised us") they didn't expect you, your friends, or anyone who's never played it before, to actually show an interest. i think they expected to reach a large portion (but not all) of the "older" Ogre fans. i first picked it up sometime between 1988 and 1990, and have owned every edition since then except minis and the (relatively) recent deluxe edition (too expensive to ship to Germany). i managed to find a shrinkwrapped/unopened copy of the older (very late 1980s?) Deluxe Edition a few years back in a game shop in Germany.
PS: after consuming SJ's products since about 25 years (i started with GURPS before GEV), i'm so happy to see SJ's Ogre dream come true in such style.

Creator Dennis on May 11, 2012
Never played before, Saw Steve Jackson attached to it, so had to donate... Figure its going to be an awesome game :)
Creator Michael Brown on May 11, 2012
When an Oger rams it is a straight 50/50 disabled or killed result. So 1,2 or 3 is a D and 4,5 or 6 is a kill.
Creator Raja Thiagarajan on May 11, 2012
@John: In the game Ogre, you don't use the CRT for ramming. Immobile units (like the CP and howitzer) are automatically destroyed; mobile units are disabled on a roll of 1-3 or destroyed on a roll of 4-6.
The sequel game G.E.V. replaces Ogre's ramming rules with more complex (and interesting) rules for overruns.
Creator Steve Jackson Games on May 11, 2012
This video will get reviewed, cleaned up, and reposted. I did it in about 1 1/4 takes and then Sam worked for more than 12 hours straight putting it together. It would be better with a lot more "Mr. Hands" closeups; I am sure I made fluffs that Sam didn't catch; and there IS in fact an error on the 1-2 column of the CRT that is inset at some points. The "4" result should be NE, not D. The presenter should lose some weight and stand up straight.
Dominic - One of many possibilities.
-sj
Creator John Sheppard on May 11, 2012
When the Ogre rammed the Heavy Tank, how was a successful 'hit' determined? Steve rolled a 5, but where was that on the CRT? 1:1?
Creator Justin Youngs on May 11, 2012
This is awesome, however for future Kickstarter's it would be awesome if you guys could release videos like this when you start it rather than at the end. I myself have never played Ogre and neither have my friends and it was really hard to talk any of them into supporting this game with very little knowledge of the game is played. In any case, it looks like a lot of fun and I am glad to have been able to support you guys on this awesome project!
Creator Noah Fidanque on May 11, 2012
OVER 45 times more funding than the target... Not bad !!!!
Creator John Post on May 11, 2012
$300,000 - GOAL ACHIEVED! We are now committed to releasing an Ogre computer game, for some platform or platforms, by the end of 2014. It might very well be a lot sooner. This is totally separate from the record sheet app, which will be free and come out before the boardgame ships. This is not an addition to any current reward levels - this is just something that your support and feedback has convinced us to do.
Creator John Post on May 11, 2012
Digital Ogre game was one of the stretch goals. A platform has not been announced.
Creator nerdwerds on May 11, 2012
I have never played OGRE, so I appreciate the tutorial. :)
Creator Dominic Romano on May 11, 2012
Any possibility of a re-release of Ogre for the PC?
Creator Raja Thiagarajan on May 11, 2012
Thanks for the video; I look forward to showing it to my son when he gets home from school ;-).
In case it helps: It sounded like you might have misspoken a couple of times, reversing attack strength and range. That's probably due to lack of sleep. Also the printed "inset" CRT puzzled me a while, then I realized it had an extra D in the 1-2 column. I assume your hand-drawn CRT is correct.
Enough nitpicking! Thanks so very much for the wild ride, and for bringing back Ogre in the nicest way possible.
Creator Dylan Conner on May 11, 2012
Donated having never played the game, but OGRE is a legendary title and I know me and my crew are going to love it
Creator Witt Sullivan on May 11, 2012
I can't wait to play it! I've heard of Ogre over the years, but never have played it. :)
Creator Al Griego on May 11, 2012
I am definitely running a BIG Ogre game at ChimaeraCon next spring!!
Creator David Walend on May 11, 2012
50% chance the tank is only disabled. 50% chance it is destroyed. The Ogre loses two treads, but is usually pretty happy.
Creator Simon Hunt on May 11, 2012
Great to see the man himself talk about the game.
:") heads up - Missiles when creating the record sheet "range of six and damage of five" is likely to cause considerable confusion later... :/
Creator Stephen E Brown on May 11, 2012
22:30, the Ogre crunches the heavy tank. I've never played before, how does that work? Is it an assumed 1:1 like targeting treads, or does the Ogre have an attack value for ramming?
Creator sgbeal on May 11, 2012
@ 22:25 - isn't the Ogre supposed to lose a couple treads there? @Newbies: keep in mind that a badly-timed ram can lower your MP during the movement phase.
Creator Greg K, of the ∞ on May 11, 2012
SJG - Please upload this to youtube later on, .. so I can find/play this to any noob's just before we start a game. - also it could be played at Stores as well, before Tournments, or open game nights.
Creator sgbeal on May 11, 2012
@ approximately 15:00 : a note for new players: nobody [i know of] would actually target the SB with his HWZ while the Ogre's MB is still intact. Some players (me!) never target the SBs unless absolutely necessary. MB, then Treads, and Missiles only if they are an immediate threat.
Creator Joshua Megerman on May 11, 2012
@SJ - you fired the HWZ before moving. Shouldn't that have waited until after all of the defenders moved?
Creator Joshua Megerman on May 11, 2012
@SJ - the 1/1 INF counter shows D2 on the video. I don't know if that was a counter issue, or just a CGI error on the virtual counter...
Creator James Binnie on May 11, 2012
Thanks Steve! I've played OGRE since the early 80's, can't wait to see the new edition! :)
