Test Drive Take II

Update #14 · Jan 4, 2013 · 11 comments

We are hosting another Durham test drive event tomorrow (1/5) from 12-4 at 614 Rigsbee Ave in downtown Durham, NC. You can sign up here:

http://www.slyreply.com/Event/EventDetails.aspx?eid=81KOU8BrVvc%3d

We will be taking the ELF on the road this spring for all of you who can't make it to Durham. We know it isn't soon enough for those of you who had hoped to try it before the campaign ends, but getting them built takes precedence right now, as we're sure you would agree.

On that note, we are still accepting suggestions as to where to take the Kickstarter ELF on tour. Post yours in a comment or send us event ideas to events@organictransit.com

We look forward to meeting more of you tomorrow.

Champaign-Urbana, Illinois - College town, environmentally conscious community, some bike friendlies, some not-so-bike friendly... a decent bike market, but most importantly, high density population in a 5-6 mile radius - 100,000 people in the target market for a vehicle like this who could potentially commute using a vehicle like this. The big parking lot at the Assembly hall would be perfect for a demo/test ride.

I would love to see it in Tacoma WA where I live or at least Seattle WA.
Wish the best for you and that the ELF takes the world by storm.
Cycling is now vastly more practical with this.

I'd love to see you come to Cleveland, OH, but you would be missing a bet not to show up in Columbus, OH -- central to Ohio, state capital, lots of students(young techy demographic), and big expressways should keep surface roads a bit calmer.

Tucson, AZ would love to see the ELF come through on tour. As an electric bicycle and alternative energy enthusiast, this project is very interesting to me and many like-minded Tusconans.

Charlottesville, Va is a very bicycle and Eco friendly city with many people driving alternative energy vehicles. I believe a lot of people would be interested in this around here in Cville.

      New Bern NC
You MUST come to New Bern and here is why:
We are close enough to Durham for this to be a pilot for towns that are a not-bike-friendly challenge for ELF
and there are thousands of 'New Berns' in the USA - the towns that are NOT bike friendly!!
I live on Madam Moores Lane (MML) - my home is on the Trent River front - it is beautiful - and yet there are no sides to the road one mile from downtown and it is a major commuting road with 45 mph speed limit.
I am very fearful of being injured if I drive ELF on MML
and at the same time, I really want to get at ELF - this is key to The Great Turning /The Long Emergency (see below)

I am planning to take on The Living Building Challenge (LBC) for my Permaculture + home remodel project. see https://ilbi.org/ - One of the 20 imperatives of LBC is Car Free Living
I was a Transitions Town leader in Colorado for 3 years prior to moving here in Oct 2012 and road my bike everywhere in town as a model of being sustainable.
I am permaculture certified, a community organizer by profession, and certified by the CO ST Univ Ag Extension New Farmer program.
I am committed to all aspects of sustainable living to include what ELF is about
So please come to New Bern on behalf of solving the problem of towns that are not bike friendly

Talahassee Fl would be a sold out event if you can demo/test ride. What about setting up a dealer like test rides sites with your enterprenurial customers?

I don't feel too confident in Tucson's chances, but I guess we were number 12 this past year for bike friendliness, and we have a bike church. Also, no snow, just sayin'.
