A documentary "primer" about miniature gamers, Euro-style board gamers, and roleplaying gamers (RPGs) filmed at GenCon.
What does it mean to say we are “Gamers"?
My documentary will explore what it means to be a gamer AND what it means to be a game insider or game company.
I want to focus and showcase the people behind the games. See where they live, what they do, and why gaming is such a big part of their lives. The film will follow different types of gamers: Euro-board gamers, roleplaying gamers, miniature war gamers, and others both at GenCon and in their hometowns.
In addition to the gamer's view (2-3 spots for "Cast" that are auditing now), this film will showcase the people who make the games we play and the tools we play with. I want to show what makes them tick, what makes them want to build their livelihood on making the games we love and enjoy. The documentary will include interviews with Matt Wilson of Privateer Press, Romeo Filip of Battle Foam, and Curt Covert of Smirk & Dagger Games and, where possible, we’ll be going to the manufacturers' facilities and getting a close up and personal view.
Gamers unite! I need your help to realize my vision of making a gaming documentary.
Why do I want to make a documentary on gaming?
It was the fan interest from my time podcasting that inspired me to look into this project. Reaching so many people was, and still is, a truly amazing feeling, but I want to do more. I want to SHOW what I am seeing when I interview an industry executive. Imagine being able to share the experience of viewing, with Dan Abnett, a fan/gamer built mega-diorama of Nurgle infested Space Marines!
I have been part of some amazing teams, and I am proud of the successes I’ve achieved with them. As a co-host on the D6 Generation Podcast, I had the chance to get to know many, many gamers and industry insiders. We were able to reach thousands upon thousands of listeners worldwide and hit over a million downloads. I’ve built a successful law firm, and recently inked a deal on a new partnership that will serve thousands of individuals in the U.S. This project will be no different, and I’ve built a great team of industry professionals and advisors to help me bring an amazing project to fruition. My team is in place and ready to go. All I need now is funding.
So, I am calling on fans of film, lovers of gaming, and those inspired by creativity, to help me realize this film. By pledging, I know deep in my heart that my team and I can bring this film to light, and do so in a way that will make you proud to have been a part of it.
