I filmed the original Wicked Funny in 2009 in Manchester, NH, focusing on the burgeoning comedy scene centered at Nick & Brad's Open Mic Comedy Night at the Shaskeen. I interviewed over a dozen young comics about why they started comedy, what they love about it, and what their goals were. 

Now, three years later, I want to revisit these comedians, and see how their comedy has developed. Stand-up comedy is a fun, but incredibly challenging road, and I'll explore these comics' progression. Have their goals changed? Have they evolved as comics? Or if they're not doing stand up anymore, what other outlets have they found for their creativity?

The comics from Wicked Funny have been developing their craft over the past three years. They've been writing, hitting as many open mics as possible, and developing their voice as comedians. No matter how much natural talent you have, it takes years of dedicated work to become a true comedian. How does it feel to be in the middle of that journey? Whether it's a hobby or a career, it's a commitment of time and energy that only true passion can satisfy.

This follow-up documentary will be released next summer. I'm anticipating it will be between 30-60 mins. I'll have about 20 interviews to conduct, plus additional shooting of the standup. I need some hard drives for all the new footage, plus equipment rentals, and some travel expenses. I'll be paying for the majority of this myself, so I'm hoping to raise just a little bit of additional money to make this film great.

I've already begun shooting, and I'll continue to shoot through the end of the year. The video above includes footage from the original doc as well as some new footage. I'll enter post-production in December, and will have the finished film completed by July 2013, at which time I will have the premier in New Hampshire, hopefully at Red River Theaters in Concord, NH where we screened the original Wicked Funny.
