Director’s Statement –

‘Ten to Sing’ is a coming of age story in reverse. As our lives go on and our perspectives shift, it is easy to forget to enjoy the world around us and experience life. With all of the experience and confidence gained from my directorial debut ‘Soup’s On!’, I’m exited to make my second short film. With your help, we can turn my vision for 'Ten to Sing' into a unique, touching, and visceral movie ready to light up the screen on the film festival circuit.

We can’t do it without you –

Making movies isn’t cheap, and we need you to help us produce this short. Many people have already pledged their time and equipment, but we are still short of other financial requirements. Money donated will go to:

- Equipment rental – The amount of equipment needed to make a short film can be overwhelming. Lights, lenses, grip equipment, audio equipment... the list seems never ending. Fortunately, our seasoned Director of Photography is furnishing as much equipment as she can, but every project is unique and has its own special equipment needs.

- Production design – ‘Ten to Sing’ will be especially ambitious in this area. Without giving to much of the story away, many hours of work will go into creating unique props, practical effects, and beautiful set dressings.

- Cast, crew, and food – All of the cast and crew I assemble will put in many hours of work, and pour their creativity into this project. We need to make sure they get fed, and if they are skilled labor we need to make sure that we pay them for their time, otherwise they can’t commit to our project on the level that we need them to.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

Previous to funding we will be casting the short and securing our crew. Pre-production work is already under way. I have been breaking down the script, starting on storyboards, budgeting, and scheduling. Once funded our production designer will be able to begin on props and sets, and our costume designer will be able to start on the costumes. I look forward to collaborating on these aspects and creating a unique universe for my film to live in.

Finally, once all of the pre-production and design work is done we can begin production, at the moment it is tentatively schedule for the last week in November. The three day shoot will take place both indoors and outdoors. Weather permitting we will be shooting on three consecutive days. Production is always a whirlwind filled with challenges but I love that about it. I get to let my resourcefulness and creativity go full force.

Post-production is my trade and always an exciting part of the film making process. This aspect I know backwards and forwards and have the utmost confidence. Of course there are always going to be problems to solve that are unique to the project but I truly look forward to solving them.
