"Rocketship" is the story of a Boy's loss of innocence and imagination as a result of nearly killing one of his best friends.
Synopsis:
We used to live in the worlds we created. "Rocketship" is the story of a Boy's loss of innocence and imagination as a result of nearly killing one of his best friends.
On a routine day with his friends Four-Eyes and the Bully, the Boy embarks on a journey taking place in a world shaped by his fascination with space and the final frontier. Reality mixes with fantasy and imagination as the kids play in the backyard. Four-Eyes takes on the world of the western and the Bully imagines himself as a war hero.
As their Babysitter's attention turns towards her Boyfriend, the kids let their imaginations take over. Four Eyes suffers a dramatic death from the Bully's grenade, and the Boy moves swiftly to retaliate. The Boy pulls his ray-gun on the Bully, startling him so much that he falls backward, tumbling from the treehouse to the ground far below.Realizing that the Bully's lack of movement is not their imagination, Four-Eyes takes off into the woods as the Boy sprints for home.
The countdown begins, smokes rises, and the Boy looks in the direction of the moon.
Funding:
We believe this project has the potential to have immense success on the festival circuit. That said, if we're going to do it, we want to do it right.
First and foremost, this means we will pay our crew standard industry rates. Although we could likely hire a crew for little or no cost, payment would make it significantly easier to secure talented, professional crew members. The principal producers--Nicholas Santos, Kyle Kelley, Jordan Littlefield, and Alison Walter--will not be taking payment, as we want to use every last dime to make sure that ROCKETSHIP meets it's full potential.
In addition to paying the crew, we will need to rent high-end equipment to achieve our desired aesthetic.
The following is a general list of what the money from this campaign will go towards:
Craft Services
Film Festival Submissions
The film will be shot in full HD using the RED Scarlet.
Description of Video:
This video is comprised of storyboards, based on extensive shot-lists put together by Kyle Kelley and Nicholas Santos, and illustrated by comic book artist the Rahzzah. Although the final film will be live action, these storyboards serve as a representation of the style in which we plan to shoot the film.
About Us:
Written and Directed by Nicholas Santos
Nicholas Santos is a filmmaker based out of Brooklyn, NY. Born and raised on Cape Cod, he went on to study Cinema and Photography at Ithaca College, where he developed his craft and filmmaking style.
Produced by Jordan Littlefield
Jordan Littlefield has been a passionate filmmaker and story teller from a young age. He graduated from Ithaca College where he majored in Television and Radio production. To this day, he continues to practice and refine his craft. He also loves long walks on the beach.
Director of Photography, Kyle Kelley
Kyle Kelley is a freelance cinematographer based out of Brooklyn, NY. He has worked on various projects, including short films, documentaries, and music videos. Kyle met Nicholas at the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, and the duo have worked together to produce a number of films. Sharing a very similar visual style, Kyle and Nicholas are ideal partners.
Assistant Director/Associate Producer, Alison Walter
Alison Walter is a native New Yorker who currently resides in Los Angeles. After graduating from the High School of Performing Arts she attended Ithaca College, where she developed her skills as an actor, dancer, writer, photographer, and model. She truly believes that if we treat others as we desire to be treated, smile often, and accept every day as our opportunity to change the world, anything is possible.
Nicholas, Jordan, Kyle, and Alison collaborated on their largest project, "Kiddo", in the Fall of 2009, and have been developing additional projects ever since.
"Kiddo", written, directed, and edited by Nicholas Santos, shot by Kyle Kelley, and starring Jordan Littlefield and Alison Walter, went on to be an Official Selection of the 2010 Boston International Film Festival and the 2010 Indie Spirit Film Festival in Colorado Springs where it won "Best Student Film".
Sound by Jordan Eusebio
Growing up in a small town in rural Illinois, Jordan moved to Southern California to receive a degree in Film Production with an emphasis in Sound Design from Chapman University. He now lives in downtown San Jose with his girlfriend and does most of his sound designing in the dead of the night when traffic is the lightest.
Jordan and Nicholas met on a feature film set in Portland in 2010 and, after four days of working together (and several drinks for Jordan’s birthday), Nicholas asked Jordan to sound design his short film “Things I Don’t Remember.” They’ve been making solid gold ever since.
"Things I Don't Remember", written, directed, and edited by Nicholas Santos, shot by Kyle Kelley, produced/starring Alison Walter, and with sound by Jordan Eusebio, went on to be an Official Selection of the 2011 Riverside International Film Festival, the 2011 Boston International Film Festival, and the 2011 Indie Spirit Film Festival.
