Connected as Brian Kelly (2026 friends)
I'm an editorial and advertising photographer specializing in environmental portraiture from Grand Rapids, Michigan. I work frequently in Detroit and Chicago for major magazines and other clients. It is my deep belief that the future of Michigan very much depends upon the future of Detroit...this is why I'm documenting Detroit's future now.
THERE!!! You got my money now please leave me alone!
Thank you, Bill, Nichole and Mohammed. I'm so appreciative of your support!
Way to go, Brian! It's good to know there are so many out there that realize Detroit is alive and has a spirit that cannot die. Completely fed-up with the portrayal of the hometown as ruin porn. I'm behind you all the way.
Thanks for choosing to focus on the positive! I shared your project on my facebook page and directly on the pages of a few others. Hopefully some of my friends will also consider backing this project in the spirit of promoting the strength of Detroit and Michigan as well. I look forward to seeing the finished product!
Dear Brian,
I hope you get this project funded. In retrospect of 2011 much of the media focus has been on the 'demise' of normal life due to the economic downturn. But what I have seen - and what you have seen - is that when life becomes 'invonvienient' we as humans find a way to regain or dignity and actually engage in activities worthwhile. Activities that indeed do build up communities and networks and gets people involved in meaningful business, instead of an otherwise manipulated - and physically content, but emotionally bare existence, fueled by our world, in large dictated by the major corporations and their agendas. I hope this project succeeds. peace morsi
