This project aims to tie key thematic elements of my art, and life as an artist, together, and will be executed in two phases.  My work, driven by a need to bring the iconic imagery of the Renaissance and Baroque periods into the visual present, has been chosen for exhibition at this year's Florence Biennale.  The opportunity to exhibit in Florence, Italy, birthplace of the Renaissance, offers unique and intriguing ideological possibilities.  Exhibition at the Biennale (Dec.3rd-11th, 2011) will constitute the project's Phase 1.  My intention is to carefully document the process of creating and showing the work for the Biennale as well as the experience of Florence, its incredibly rich history, and the modern spectacle of a large international art event.  Upon return, I will begin channeling the documentation and experiences into work for a solo show to be held at VistaStudios Gallery 80808 in Columbia, SC, a show that will constitute Phase 2.  Columbia is my home town, and the site of the foundations of my life as an artist.  To return to the city of my own artistic past with a show based upon experiencing the beginnings of my work's inspiration is the project's ultimate goal.

Funding for this project will aid directly in international shipping of the work for the Biennale to Florence, acquisition of considerable materials for production of the work for the Columbia show, and printing costs for the catalogue for Full Circle (Sept., 2012).
