About this project
This will be the second annual iteration of Unscreened, a lively evening of four world-premiere short plays by some of Hollywood’s fastest-rising writers, featuring a multi-star cast, and produced by award-winning theater and film companies Black Sheep Entertainment and Firefly: Theater & Films.
The 2011 pilot proved the concept - that the immediacy of theater production gives these writers what is always a rare and sometimes their *only* experience of working directly with actors on the words they write and that this results in a thrilling and fun time for creators and audience alike - and got notice. This year, we're asking our community to augment the resources we have on hand to give these plays the production they deserve.
Unscreened was created to meet two goals: (i) to give brilliant and buzz-generating screen- and TV writers the chance to see their visions fully realized at a pace and depth of collaboration that film and TV cannot accommodate; and (ii) to work with well-known actors in a way that was collaborative, quick, and equally fun for the creators and the audience.
The newly announced 2012 class of writers includes Anna Christopher, Michelle Morgan, Dahvi Waller, and John Whittington. Anna Christopher and Michelle Morgan will direct their own plays, while Susanna Fogel will direct Dahvi Waller's and Robbie Pickering will direct John Whittington's. The show will premiere on 2/6/12 with a run through 2/27/12 with a possible extension. Tickets are now available.
