Update #6: update!
Hello supporters of HARD ART DC!!
We have had a busy couple of months and should have sent word sooner about the progress of the project. Here’s the latest:
TRAVELING EXHIBITION
HARD ART did not travel to Austin during SXSW but we intend to take it there as part of the tour! We are working on dates in Chicago, LA, Baltimore, Philly, Portland, OR, NYC, among other cities. We have also been asked to bring the show to Paris to show it during a film festival in September 2013 and hope we can look into more overseas show possibilities.
BOOK
A final draft of the full version book is now complete and we are currently showing it to various publishers. Dischord Records has generously agreed to help with distribution. THANK YOU Dischord! We will keep you updated on our progress with publishers.
BENEFITS
We will be sending your benefits soon! We have prints, posters and limited edition artist made books almost ready to mail but need your contact information. We sent an email via Kickstarter a few weeks ago but didn’t get a lot of responses. Please look for another email in the coming week asking for your mailing address so we can send your stuff!
For those backers who pledged $50 + up: since the actual publication of the book is not yet known, we have designed a special limited edition artist made book for you (only 250 copies are bring printed).
HOW YOU CAN CONTINUE TO HELP MAKE HARD ART HAPPEN:
While we are ever grateful for the donations made to this project, we continue to need funds, particularly to be able to travel the exhibition to as many places as possible. If you are interested in making a further donation, please consider purchasing a limited edition print (gelatin silver and digital), a limited edition handmade HARD ART poster (designed by the one and only Nick Pimentel), or the exhibition catalog. Also, if you know of someone who is interested in helping to support the project, please let them know that they can still help! A complete price list and contact info is at civilianartprojects.com.
Thank you so much for your continued support of HARD ART DC! --Lely, Jayme, Lucian, Alec and Nick

Update #4: Update on Hard Art!
Hi supporters! A lot has been happening with HARD ART! Here's a quick update....
EXHIBITION
The exhibition continues until December 31st so if you're in DC, please stop by! Civilian Art Projects is located at 1019 7th St., NW (near New York Ave.). Go to civilianartprojects.com for gallery hours.
ARTIST TALK
The artist talk was a huge success!! Thanks to all who came out...We were blown away by the huge attendance. We each spoke about our particular roles/contributions and then opened it up for questions...Two early co-founders of the art collectives Madams Organ + Hard Art Gallery, where most of the photographs were taken, were in the audience -- Russell Braen (Madams Organ) and Rogelio Maxwell (Hard Art gallery). They each gave fascinating contexts of the origins of the respective art spaces, the energy of the early shows, and the essential-ness of off beat, non-commercially driven art spaces. Also in the audience were many from the early DC music scene including Alec's brother Ian (Teen Idles), Charlie Danbury (Trenchmouth), Scott Wingo (Trenchmouth), and Geordie Grindle (Teen Idles).
