About this project

Creating an album of music I will produce in collaboration with other artists, mixing live instrumental and electronic sampled sounds.

The music will be geared to Tribal Fusion Belly Dancers and DJs who have a world music flair to their sets, as well as listeners who enjoy a mix of organic acoustic sounds tastefully layered with bass beats.

I plan to spend 6 months working with musicians and recording, and a month in the studio mixing and recording the beats and electronic parts. Following will be mastering and production of the album, including artwork design and making an informative booklet to promote the theme and message I wish to convey with the music (see below).

Title of the album: Gypsy: it's not a bad word.
Theme: gypsy music remixed, with an explanation and background of true gypsy culture, history of the word, and positive connotations.

My musical inspirations from over the years that will guide my selections are among, but not limited to, Cheb i Sabbah, DJ Sep, Adrian Sherwood, Dr. Israel, Dub Gabriel, Process Rebel, Janaka, Maneesh the Twister, Sub Swara, DJ Dragonfly, Beats Antique, Jimmy Love, Kush Arora, Sukh Knight, Engine-Earz, Beats without Borders, David Starfire, Freek Nasty, Jacaranda, Lumin, Dan Cantrell, Max Pashm, Balkan Beat Box, Nickodemus, Zeb, Lorin, Rusko, Mano Chau, Ojos De Brujo, Afro-Celt Soundsystem, Dr, Das, Asian Dub Foundation, Kal

Dancers who's music selections have influenced my DJing and will therefore influence my sound are among, but not limited to, Sharon Kihara, Ariellah, Mavi, Sarah Johannson Locke, Freyja, Calamity Sam, Christine Garvin, Heather Shoopman, Sabrina Fox, Unmata, FatChanceBellyDance, The Indigo, Jill Parker and Ultra Gypsy. Frederique, Colleena Shakti, Queen Harish, Kami Liddle, Mira Betz

My goal is to use the influence and inspiration to create something unique and new, with varied musical styles throughout the album.

This will be an Electric Vardo production. The funds raised here will help me with upfront costs of producing the album. Hopefully sales of the album will cover my time and energy put into it. Profits from the album will go toward further creative projects with healthy portions being donated to charity and cultural organizations that are relevant to the theme of the album.

Thank you So Much for your support.
