Well {sob} it's almost over {sniffle}....And we can't believe the love and support our backers have shown us.
We have good news! Yesterday, we made the discmakers deadline; they have all of our stuff that they need AND THE ALBUM IS NOW IN PRODUCTION! It's all happening;)

The limited edition silkscreen poster by Lil' Rachel is done (but we're not posting it, it's a secret, you'll just have to come to the show to get one;)) However, we will give you a link to the CD Release Show on FB (feel free to invite(add) all your friends to the invite too!) Hey Team!
A few days ago this campaign reached the 4k mark! This is really going to happen!!! WOW, we feel so loved, supported and encouraged! YOU really DO have the power to make dreams come true! Thank you SO much for your donations and your support!
Recording went FABULOUSLY AMAZING (the album will feature among many fantastic things; a track where Rachel plays twin fiddle, and a brand new murder ballad written by Rebecca called, “Emma’s Lament” that we just know you’ll love.
BUT Recording also went over budget. And we have realized as well that this album is SO GREAT that we really should budget a smidgen toward PR.

You have been so generous, and we are so grateful. We are now adding some incentives hoping to get a few increased pledges as well attract new pledges. There are still 9 days left in the campaign, and we figure, why not keep this momentum going?

PAY FOR THE ALL ALBUM PRODUCTION This is HUGE. If you’ve followed The GDs for more then a minute, you’ll know that Rachel and Pandi are “do it yourself” gals. We have done all production for our past to EPs, spending hours, cutting, folding, stamping, etc. Having a professional album produced by DiscMakers will enable us to be on Amazon, and iTunes as well as carried in local record store; making it easier for fans to access our music as well. A SMALL PR CAMPAIGN. We will be able to take out ads in local papers advertising the release, as well as postage and materials for a small radio campaign. The Gloria Darlings COLORING BOOK/SONGBOOK This exciting idea has been around for a while. We would like to commission “Lil” Rachel (our extremely talented 17-yr-old artist friend (did our 1st EP cover below), who has been doing our posters for years) to do drawings for all the songs on the album; which we can have available at our shows. She is really excited about this prospect; and we love encouraging her art!

The 2nd is called “Jack of the Wood”, released for FOLKLIFE 2010, is mastered, 10 tracks, includes many traditionals and bluegrass standards, title track by Pandi, and a cover of James Taylor’s “Millworker”, and features a photo of Pandi and Rachel playing courting dulcimer.
You'll also receive a signed glossy b&w 8x5 photo of The Gloria Darlings with the personal message “ Your Name, Thank you for helping make our first album possible”

Last Sunday we practiced in Rebecca's yard....
Then we headed over for our producer, Alicia Healey, for a preproduction meeting.
We are currently at work in the studio (another exciting update coming soon)

In a very short time we have come very far! And stilll a ways to go (we're currently at 37% as this is written). Our goal right now is to focus on getting half-way. Our attack plan is to go VIRAL. Please post the link one your status on Facebook to help us get there!

IT'S TIME FOR OUR MUSIC TO BE HEARD FAR AND WIDE! For the better part of 2 years, Pandi and Rachel (new addition Rebecca in January) have been a Seattle indie folk grass band growing in popularity. Our music is ready for studio-quality recording and professional packaging and promotion. Fans frequently request recordings of original songs that we have not yet recorded. We are ready for radio play, bigger gigs and contests, and distributing our album digitally on itunes, etc. You can be part of it!
From Day 1, The Gloria Darlings has been about heart songs, love, playing, and sharing music with each other and the audience. Please help this tradition and creative dream continue by supporting our Kickstart to fund our album!

The Gloria Darlings are a Seattle-based female indie-folk-grass trio. An innovative string band like nothing ever seen or heard, they sing bright, vibrant, vocal harmonies to a one-of-a-kind courting dulcimer (one instrument two gals play at the same time)! These young ladies are multi-instrumentalists: fiddle, guitar, mountain dulcimer, and bass. Often-called sirens, their catchy original tunes weave through the crowd. The percussive nature of the dulcimer and tour de force harmony get every crowd smiling, singing along and toe tapping.
Their deep well of repertoire is full of original tunes, and renditions of popular song. Influences include Joni Mitchell, The Carter Family, Phil Ochs and Madonna. The Gloria Darlings appear frequently at folk festivals and venues from Eugene to Bellingham, sing backups for Northwest folk legend Linda Waterfall, and perform regularly at the center of the universe, Seattle’s Pike Place Market. A unique little act with a big crowd-pleasing sound!
We will be doing a lot of collaboration with local artists on the production and promotion of this album!
