LetterMpress for Mac sailed through the approval process faster than we expected, so we decided to release it today.

As I mentioned in my previous update, you can get the Mac version for $5.99 USD during this first week of sale.

Greetings LetterMpress backers and friends! 

With the successful launch of LetterMpress for iPad this past summer, we were constantly asked if, and when, we would be releasing a version for the Mac.

Once LetterMpress was released, we set to work to see if porting LetterMpress to the Mac was possible.  I’m happy to announce we will be releasing our Mac version in October of 2011.

About the Mac version:

We wanted to keep the same look and feel of LetterMpress on the iPad so users who have both iPad and Mac would find each familiar.

Besides the use of a mouse and keyboard, the most significant feature of the Mac version is the high resolution that can be output, depending on your graphics card. Prints can be created as high as 8192 pixels—that’s over 26” at 300 DPI.

The Mac version includes menus, mouse actions, and keyboard shortcuts for moving, scaling, and rotating objects on the press bed. Most are similar to those found in popular graphics programs, so learning them is quick.

We’ve added 7 new typefaces, and expanded Egyptian Ornamented with lowercase characters.

Also new is a collection of over 70 “Sorts” which include ampersands, dollar signs, pound signs, and numerals of different designs.

And we also increased the collection of artwork with 50 more borders, flourishes, images, and catch words.

Interface updates include user controlled furniture lengths specified within the furniture case, user controlled sizes for the Blocks set within the Art case, and quick links between type, sorts, and art listings.

Availability and pricing:

LetterMpress for Mac will be available only through the Mac App Store (requires Snow Leopard 10.6 or higher) and will sell for $9.99 USD.

We will have a limited-time introductory price of $5.99 USD (same as the iPad) and I will announce the release date on our Facebook page and Twitter, so make sure you are following us to get in on the introductory price of $5.99 USD.

Just a quick update on a few things:

LMP Notoriety:

- We were honored to see that LetterMpress was picked iPad "App of the Week" in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland for the week of July 15th. 

- LetterMpress also made the "New & Noteworthy" App Store rankings in the USA, UK, Canada and eight more countries for the week of July 15. It was listed "What's Hot"  in eight European countries, and was chosen a "Staff Favorite" in over 50 countries worldwide.

- LetterMpress received an excellent review in USAToday.com with reviewer Marc Saltzman giving it 3.5 out of 4 Globes.

- LetterMpress was also featured on Oprah's blog and on the home page of Graphics.com.

Type-High Backers: Posters Are on Their Way

Posters were mailed out yesterday to all Type-High and above backers. The posters were designed and printed by Rick Griffith of MATTER on Neenah's 100% cotton Lettra. We had some additional posters printed up that we'll be giving out at conferences and workshops.

We're in the middle of printing the the thank you cards, which will also be printed on Lettra 100% cotton.

If you haven't received your LetterMpress gift code, please check your junk or spam mail folder. The gifts were sent out July 5th and came from Apple.

This first version will include 13 typefaces, 5 art collections, and several paper colors and textures. There is also extensive in-app help that describes each feature along with step-by-step guides. 

The price will be $5.99 US
