About this project

THIS SHORT IS...

…about Priscilla, an aging supermodel who agreed to marry the Devil in exchange for eternal beauty.  After living in Hell for several years, her beauty has melted into a Devilish complexion with matching goat horns.  It opens during the couple's binding arbitration hearing. Priscilla gives her testimony of how she met and immediately married Lucifer at her former modeling agency.  She ends her testimony with “he broke his promise.”  Lucifer explains they met earlier when Priscilla worked happily as a barista in a cafe.  Lucifer paints the pictures that he’s in love with her, but is he telling the truth or being…well, the devil?

THE ACTORS...

...from the beginning of my senior year, I knew that I wanted to work with this talented individual. Even though the concept changed throughout the whole semester, Tyson was still going to be my lead actor. He's a fantastic improv-er. He knows exactly what I want from the character. And this would be the second time that I will see him play the devil but obviously this is with a different emotion.

We currently in the casting process for the rest of the characters. We're extremely excited to be finding new talent for this film!

Tyson Pestner - Actor "Lucifer"

Recently, we were blessed with a crop of wonderful actors! Through a weekend of casting, we found our two lawyers, mediator, Priscilla's former agent, Michael the Archangel and Priscilla!

Benji Kaufman - Actor "Mr. Gunther"

Mr. Gunther is Priscilla's bumbling lawyer.

Steve Suh - Actor "Mr. Benson"

Mr. Benson is Lucifer's head lawyer.

Jerry Boyd - Actor "Tim the Mediator"

Tim is the mediator that is presiding over the arbitration phase of the divorce.

Idrees Degas - Actor "Jo"

Jo is Priscilla's former agent.

Mark Blayney - "Michael the Archangel"

GOALS...

Connected as Mary HB Nguyen (315 friends)

Currently, I am a senior at Cal State Long Beach's very own film school. I love film. I can't really imagine myself in any other profession. I mean whenever I do, I always end up in a love triangle... Not too sure what Freud would've thought of that.

But I digress. This will be my last year as a film student and I will, hopefully against my parents' predictions, be working on bigger more beautiful things after. I am very interested in the writing and directing aspect of film. The directors that I am very much influenced by are as listed: Wes Anderson (his aesthetics are just so mesmerizing), Guillermo Del Torro (he finds beauty in monsters, which I find myself doing the same), Tim Burton (his stories of being different is what inspired me to be my own different self), Hayao Miyazaki (his vision is just so unique and colorful), Kathryn Bigelow (for pushing the boundaries for women directors everywhere).

Although directing is one of my career choices, writing was what I wanted to do ever since I realized that I wanted to be in film. Throughout college I wrote many screenplays of varying lengths. I even won "The Most Creative Film/TV Student" of 2009 at my school. As a writer, I am inspired by majority of the directors I listed, who are writers themselves. Other writers that I inspired by are Haruki Murakami (he can craft just mundane things into beautiful works of art) & F. Scott Fitzgerald (his major theme in his writing is about the American dream, which I just love)

Thank you for your support in my crew and in our journey to make this short film. And thank you so much for even looking at this page! We appreciate it so much.
