Thank you thank you thank you thank you x million...

Update #7 · Aug 23, 2011 · 3 comments

What else is there to say but "thank you" for making the JGIR! an undeniable success!   No we didnt reach our monetary goal, but Kickstarter did as their name and mission promises, and you all did your part in kickstarting JUST GIMME INDIE ROCK! from an idea into a highly anticipated project in the world of music and film.  People have pledged far more than money in the past three months- they have offered their time, services, connections. A mere three months after starting our campaign, JGIR! has an army of film makers, PR peoples, bookers, bands, fans, and labels all committed to the cause.  JGIR! was written about and featured on some of rock and rolls biggest online mags and blogs.  Bands and such are still coming to us wanting to be in the film.  People have thrown us fundraising concerts.  There have been offers for guaranteed spots in international film festivals.  I could seriously go on and on, and I should, but I have to get back to work!

So I have to say it again, JGIR! campaign may not have funded the film but it can only be called a smashing success!  Thanks a million to all of you for your generosity of dollars and spirit!  I am considering starting another Kickstarter campaign, but only just so I can afford to come to each of your houses and give you all a big fat smooch....

Ciao for niao,  B

WATCH "SAVE THE MUSIC" OUR NEW PITCH VIDEO

Update #6 · Jul 30, 2011 · 2 comments

Well ladies and Gentlemen, we are certainly learning as we go!

The "Suits" made us take down our first beloved pitch video down -- yes, life imitates art --  but we are even more determined to tell the epic tale of the little guy standing up to the corporate machine to make and share innovative music, NO MATTER WHAT!

Please watch our latest video and email it, facebook it, tweet it, smoke it, repost it on your site and help it go viral. WE HAVE A NEW EASY LINK TO OUR KICKSTARTER PAGE: http://www.indierockmovie.com

With only a few weeks to go, we have a lot of money to raise. Were we too ambitious in asking indie fans and supporters of the arts for $75,000? Maybe so: but nothing ventured, nothing gained. And the support and accolades that is still pouring in from many of our indie heros, promotional companies, budding bands, and you the fans has been phenomenal. We already have half a dozen offers from International Film Festival boards to show this film as soon as it's out. We are ready to hit the road and start filming, so please keep donating, talking about us and rooting us on!

JGIR! Independence Day Concert Series Kicks off this weekend!

Update #5 · Jul 9, 2011 · comment

Huntsville, Alabama might seem like a usual place to find incredible indie music, but it is only proof that there are thriving, underground music scenes everywhere. Our commitment to help encourage and promote these indie artists, combined with our fundraising efforts, is resulting in a series of concerts across the country.

Attendance is free, but pledge cards will be handed out so we can contact the concert-goers and send them a link to Kickstarter, where they will fulfill their pledge. If you would like some pledge cards too, to pass out at any events, concerts, street corners, etc. just email us and we'll send you some. We are looking for people to set up concerts across the country. The concerts that are going on in Huntsville are happening this weekend because a guy named Nathan who is in a band ("or the children's crusade") took the initiative to set up/collaborate with friends to set up 5 "home concerts." What an ingenious way to get exposure for your own band and network with your fav musicians, huh?!

If you have a house, a park, a beach or a bar/nightclub, you can put on a concert too! Help spread the arts and make this film happen!

If you are anywhere near Huntsville, Alabama tonight or tomorrow night, stop by for great music!

Pitchfork article ups donations 50% in two days!

Update #4 · Jun 12, 2011 · comment
On Thursday I finally got an email off to a bunch of the online press and blogs. When I awoke Friday am, I had forty emails telling me about my new backers and a dozen kudos from friends about the Pitchfork article! I'm gonna take a giant leap here and say the two are related... But however you came to learn of JGIR! thanks everyone for the flood of donations, offers to help, likes and love. We are now suddenly 10% of the way to our goal! As you can see a little exposure can go a long long way. The only way we can reach our goal is to keep the press and dare I say "hype" going. It's the path we chose when we set our goal so lofty- but we had to set it where we knew we could deliver on the film we are promising. So while I hate to ask for more help within a thank you letter, I must hold my nose and do just that. If you would please continue to pass the word along about us, tweet, post to your fb friends, etc. Or if you know of anyone in the bloggo-press, anyone with a voice who might be interested telling in our story, please please please reach out to them. Any ideas for promotion of the JGIR! campaign are sooo welcome too. Thanks a million to all of you for your donations and generosity! Xo. Brad
