About this project
We are here to produce the first 17 inch, fully upgradeable touch-screen Windows tablet on the market. Light, thin, and blazing fast, this tablet will be the first in a line of completely upgradeable Tablets, produced by our company, Aurkron.
Most major PC market analysts say that tablets will dominate the notebook market in the next five years. Many PC manufactures are attempting to address the tablet market, but they are missing two key things. There are no large tablets on the market, and the smaller tablets they make are not upgradeable what-so-ever.
By upgradeable, we mean fully upgradeable. On today's laptops, you can only upgrade the RAM and sometimes hard drive. With our tablet, you will be able to upgrade the RAM, hard drive, graphics card, processor, and even the display. And best of all, this would be extremely easy to upgrade. Upgrading any part would take less than 50 minutes to upgrade. There would be some limitations however, such as you wouldn't be able to put a newer processor in an older socket.
Removing a component would be as simple as unscrewing the back, unscrewing the component from the motherboard, and unplugging the component from it's socket. Adding a component is as easy as inserting the component in it's socket, screwing it into the motherboard, and screwing the back panel back on.
Most people think upgradeability is a trade-off for portability. We beg to differ. At about three (3) pounds, and seven (7) hour battery life, this beast of a mobile computer can be taken almost anywhere.
Many people have said "Why would anyone spend more than $1000 on a tablet, if you can buy an iPad?" Our tablet is 5.1x as powerful as the iPad 2. Not to mention our tablet is completely upgradeable, and has a larger screen.
How will we develop and manufacture these tablets, especially since no large PC company has done so yet, some of you may ask. First off, half this money is going to the developing the motherboards for this tablet. We have insured they are being made in a humane factory, unlike Foxconn or other competitors. The RAM is being purchased from a company that makes their products in America. Which brings us to our next point. The tablets will be assembled in America. It only cost an extra $45 per tablet to make assemble them in America, so we are taking advantage of that opportunity.

James and Jim Hardman are a father-son team (mostly son). James, since he was six, has learned much about building and repairing computers from his father Jim. As he got older, James ate, breathed, and lived technology, and had an idea for a product. Using funds from his family, he assembled his Tablet prototype on his own. Now he wants to turn his idea into something big, and has chosen Kickstarter for his funding platform.
