About this project
UPDATE: Wow! We've cleared $23,000 in pledges! Thank you! The more we're able to raise, the better this project will be including maybe even being able to pay for promoting the album once it's released as we want this album to reach as many people as possible!
Hi, we’re The Young@Heart Chorus and we’re making a new double album to celebrate our 30th Anniversary!!
But we really need your help to do it. We're asking you, our loyal fans, to pledge your support today and help us raise the money to fund this project.
Who are we? We’re that rock group ranging in age from 73 to 89 years old. You may have seen our film “Young@Heart” (Fox Searchlight), you may have seen us live in Tokyo or New Zealand, on TV in Germany or heard us on the radio in New York. What started in a Western Massachusetts elderly housing project to joyfully pass the time instead of passing before your time has developed into the stereotype-defying, generation-crossing, globe-trotting musical extravaganza better known as The Young@Heart Chorus.
Tentatively scheduled for a June 2012 release, this album will be a big part of our planned festivities for next year. It will most likely consist of 1 Live CD of the best songs recorded live at our concerts on our current Fall Tour and a 2nd Studio-Recorded CD. We're hoping to start recording in December 2011.
Your pledges will be used to pay for:
$8,000 Studio recording & mixing
$1,500 Session musicians
$1,000 Mastering
$1,500 Graphic design & layout
$3,000 Pressing 1000 CDs
$15,000 Recording Budget
This budget covers making the album only. Every dollar we raise over $15,000 will be used for such things as paying for promoting the album once it's released or hiring a professional record producer as we want this album to reach as many people as possible!
Your donation is tax deductible because we're a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We hope you'll donate to this project and share this link http://kck.st/pbiJEI with your friends and family so we may continue this magical, musical adventure.
Please Note: INTERNATIONAL BACKERS must add an additional $15 to each pledge of $25 or more for overseas shipping and handling.
Sincerely yours,
The Young@Heart Chorus

What started out in 1982 at a Western Massachusetts elderly housing project to joyfully pass the time instead of passing before your time has developed into the stereotype-defying, genre-bending, generation-crossing musical extravaganza better known as The Young@Heart Chorus. Ranging in age from 73-89, these raucous rockers do in retirement what most teenagers fantasize about: tour the globe rocking sold out shows. From TIME to The Daily Show and stars of a hit indie documentary, Young@Heart, this group of spirited seniors continues to wow audiences with their knock-your-socks-off musical celebration that proves it’s “possible to grow old without growing boring” (The Dartmouth).
