• What's a Nightmare Dreamer?

  Suppose you had nightmares.  Suppose you had horrible nightmares, every night, so that you couldn’t get any rest.  Exhausted and distraught, where could you turn for help, for relief, for rest.

  Suppose there were a Nightmare Dreamer, someone you could send for, who would lie by your side and dream your nightmare for you, so you could have sweet dreams and deep sleep.

  This is the play, an original, ensemble-devised theater piece currently in production by Tattooed Potato as part of DC's Mead Theater Lab, 2011/2012 season.  17 performances, Thursdays through Sundays 3/14-4/7 at Flashpoint.  It will be physical, and visceral, a journey of the psyche and of the heart.

• Who are you guys?

  It's all being created by director John Michael MacDonald, an ensemble of seven actors (Sarah Barker, Genna Davidson, Josh Drew, Gwen Grastorf, John Milosich, Mike Rodriguez and Randy Snight), and a crack design team integrating light (Colin Dieck), sound, set and costume.  No script, no prior productions (until we make them).  Just us, pounding it out in rehearsal, talking and walking through characters, events, story and how to tie them all together, then getting up and working it in the rehearsal space, over and over, until we get it all down right.

• But how? And why?

  Because we're drawn to original recipes and home-cooked meals.  We love theater.  Not just acting in it.  We love writing it, building it from our own ideas, and performing it with the same sweat we shed in the making.  We toil hard to manifest each others' visions, just about any way we know how, and then in ways we don't.  It's a different kind of work out.  We think it's cool.

  With your help, we can do some important things, including but not limited to: paying collaborators a more reasonable amount for their work; adding production value with costumes, lights, set and sound; advertising and marketing our show; having the financial flexibility to say "maybe" and even "yes" to great ideas for the show that would otherwise not be considered due to a barely bare bones production.
