About this project
Since our first concert in 2009, we've been building an audience here in Southern California with our unique blend of classic & contemporary choral music. Now we're reaching out to a wider audience, but we need your help to do it!
Your gift to SACRA / PROFANA will make it possible for us to record and promote our debut CD, scheduled to be released in March 2012. Your generous donation will help cover time in the recording studio, as well as packaging, licensing and promotional costs. It also provides a modest stipend for our singers, most of whom are either students or young working professionals.
Our debut CD will feature an exciting array of choral music: fresh arrangements of Appalachian folksongs alongside challenging avant-garde works, vibrant new music by young composers, and even an acapella rock tune or two!
Our CD will be released in March of 2012, and a copy will be mailed to you no later than March 17th, with a pledge of $25 or more. Thanks for your support!

Our debut CD will feature a truly diverse selection of modern choral music! This includes music by today's up-and-coming composers (music featured in our video), as well as acappella arrangements of rock tunes, challenging avant-garde works, and folk song arrangements.

Since its debut in Feburary 2009, SACRA / PROFANA has rapidly been gaining a reputation as an exciting new voice in American choral music. The 24-voice ensemble specializes in a unique blend of classic and contemporary styles, with a repertoire including everything from Schoenberg and The Smashing Pumpkins to Leonard Cohen and Ligeti. SACRA / PROFANA continues to defy genre classification, collaborating with Art of Élan, electroclash act HYENA, Orchestra Nova, and musicians from the San Diego Symphony at Club Anthology.
