Update #14: It's a Book!
Well Ladies & Gentlemen, I have an announcement.... it's a book! It's not a baby, it's not a building (the two things I have compared this project to) but it is indeed a book!
The hubby and I went to Austin yesterday and picked them up. They will soon be on their way to you! Now I launch into the new phase.... marketing.
I love to quote old phrases (perhaps my NEXT book???) and here's a quote that caught my attention this week..... "Any fool can write a book, it takes a genius to market one." --Anon.
So onward we go!

Update #12: Let the Presses Roll!
Yesterday afternoon I had a meeting with the Book Printer and signed off on the draft of the book, formally known as the "postscript text." They will start printing the book text today! We had to do some minor tweaking on the cover, I am due back in their office on Thursday to approve the results.
The clock has begun ..... in 10 - 12 working days, the book will be complete!

Update #4: The Countdown!
As of this morning, the Kickstarter fundraising page no longer shows the days that are left for the project... it shows the HOURS! So we are counting down and getting closer.
Several pledges have come in, in recent days, some large ones too! Other supporters have increased the amount of their pledges. I just want you to know you how much I appreciate each and every one of you!
As a dear friend wrote me today, I am leaving no stone unturned.... I'm now in the process of contacting people about my project, people who are probably not interested in soapmaking, but may be interested in supporting my publishing efforts. If you know of any people who you think may be interested, please share with them about my book project.
Two different ways you can watch the progress, is to either come here to my Kickstarter page, or go to my website.... www.TheCountrySoaper.com .... where you can see the Kickstarter widget which shows the amount of percentage of the goal.
As of this writing... only 53 more hours to go.... 59% funded....

Update #3: Sprinting to the Finish Line!
In a recent blog, I shared a not-so-wonderful experience from my childhood. It was a 5th grade track meet that I required to participate in. Now for those of you who know me personally, I am sure that I strike you as the athletic-type ..... (yeah, RIGHT!). O.K., back to the story... I was in a this race, running as hard as I could, but when it was obvious I wasn't going to win, I slowed up a bit. Came in 3rd out of 5 runners... and the second the race was over, my teacher came over and proceeded to rake me over the coals! "Why didn't you try harder? You should have run FASTER not SLOWER!" Wonderful. At that point, I had to look up to see the ground.....
Fast forward many years later and now I find myself in a similar situation. Self-publishing a book is an expensive deal! I've spent hundreds of my own funds already this year on this project... then found out about Kickstarter, thought I'd give it a try. But if I don't make that goal of $2500 by July 31... no money will be forthcoming and I'll have to wait to publish my book.
Currently the project is 41% funded with only 4 days to go. Hmmm. Doesn't look like I'm gonna win.... should I slow down??? NOT A CHANCE!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, I want you to know that I am SPRINTING to the FINISH LINE with no intention of slowing down! This is my dream, my vision, and I am purusing it for all I am worth.
AND........ some very interesting things have come up in the last few days. Massive encouragement from several of YOU, my supporters!!! I am here to tell you that even if I don't make the goal, some very exciting things are coming ..... soon! "Plan B" is taking shape!
I THANK YOU for your support! And ask that if there is any way you can encourage others and spread the word about this project, please do so.

Update #2: 10 days to go!
There is only 10 more days to go with fundraising for my book project, and the reality is, it is only 31% funded at this point. Not looking good!
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to give a presentation entitled, "The Joy of Soapmaking." One point stressed, was that "without a vision, the people perish." I encouraged people to pursue their vision for all they are worth.... and this is exactly what I intend to do myself.
My book is my dream, my vision. My goal is to self-publish this book and one way or another, that is going to be accomplished.
Those of you engaged in business understand that you get out there and try. You have to try! You see what works and what doesn't doesn't. But you don't give up! We have to keep this attitude in all areas of life.
Soapmaking is my passion and I have discovered through this process how much I enjoy teaching the craft to others. I enjoy being creative, and soapmaking is such a great way to express creativity!
If you can help in any way, to get the word out concerning this book project, I would so appreciate it. I thank you so much for your support!
