I'm ecstatic that we've hit our goal! Thank you to everyone who has made this possible. The generosity and genuine passion for the arts that our backers have displayed is truly remarkable.
If you are just discovering this project, don't let that stop you from backing it - any additional funds will go towards offsetting the commission that Amazon and Kickstarter take and help make the video even better by giving Emiel the resources to spend more time on it. If we hit $3500, I'll write and record a dance song using the Kickstarter screen names of all of the backers! Unless they don't want to be in the song, of course.
The Video
"Pieces" is an animated music video by award-winning Dutch animator Emiel Stevenhagen, based conceptually on the song of the same name by me, Ken Flagg, AKA Vic-20, touring keyboardist for nerdcore superstar MC Frontalot.
Conceived as an exploration of the imagery Emiel created for the cover of my 2009 album The End of Suffering, the video follows the travails of humanoid "rollydudes" as they attempt to rebuild and revive a giant subterranean being from the inside. Think of it as a mini-movie set to music.

The Animator
Emiel is nothing short of an outstanding animator. His dark, absurdist aesthetic coupled with his hand-drawn style have resulted in a compelling and diverse body of work:

So can you! By backing this project, you will help ensure that Emiel is adequately compensated for the substantial time and effort he has already put in and has the resources to complete the project. All of the money raised, in addition to funds I am providing personally, will go directly to him. You'll also, depending on your backing level, get great perks such as artifacts from the animation process, a hand-drawn caricature of yourself, and more.
In addition, everyone who backs the project will get regular status updates and clips of the video as it progresses. They will also have their names in the credits, so if and when the video goes to festivals, so will you!
