Good evening.
I'm Jason Squamata. I write comics. Graphic novels, if you will.
I write a lot of things, in fact, but my favorite thing to write is a comic book script.
There's something about the form,
telling stories visually in a medium unbound by budget or physics.
Writing panel by panel recipes for beautiful images.
Running movies in my head according to predetermined plot beats.
Daydreaming a collage and dictating its contents
in an intimate letter to one special artist
whose aesthetic splices perfectly with the story and gives it shimmering skin.
A comic script is telepathy in print,
sheet music for a hallucination that I share
with the complex visual headspace of my collaborator.
Dream photography flashed and frozen in pages, frames, and bubbles.
A collage that comes to life when you start reading it.

into actual magazine-sized explosions of graphic glory and sequential splendor...
To find ONE such artist would be a blessing.

HYPNO KOMIX. Four titles. Six issues each.

OWEN HUNTER is a brilliant, classically trained comics prodigy with a Herge-esque European finesse to his line and his density of detail.

SIR RICHARD WENTWORTH is a secret legend,
a virtuoso cartoonist whose style splices the vicious graphic minimalism of Saul Bass
with the crackling hoo-hah intensity of Jack Kirby.
You may know Wentworth's unmistakeable eye from album covers and concert posters.
He draws TEENAGE LUVKRAFT and plays the cosmic surf of its soundtrack like the rock star he is.

Then there's ANDREW Mc KENZIE, a dashing art superstar who learned weird graphic magicks in the Orient.
His bold design stylings evoke an optical UberPop mix of Bridget Riley and Jim Steranko.
His every page is a ravishing mash-up of harsh geometries and hypnotic symbol systems.
His mode is nouveau noir hardboiled psychedelia on HYPNOZINE
and hi-res HypnoPunk propaganda pastiche on AMERIKAN ZERO!.
The four of us have been working like demons on these comics for the past couple of years.
I have six issues for each book plotted and thumbnailed and the first two issues of each book scripted.
We all have dayjobs and some of us have families, so the process has moved a little more slowly than we'd like,
'but, at long last, these books are ready to hit the streets.
We are ready to unleash a line of fresh visions, fresh characters, and fresh worlds on the marketplace.
If you love fierce and beautiful images.
If you love strange and beautiful stories.
If you love graphic novels that are designed for weirdling adults and wise children,
If you love comics.
You will love HYPNO KOMIX.

Money raised beyond our goal will allow me to pay my artists,
'buying them some time to illustrate the next episode of each book, and the episodes to come.
Without tooting my own horn or the horns of my cohorts,
I honestly feel that these books are so beautiful and so original that they NEED to be seen. Everywhere.
And we have four more titles thoroughly outlined, waiting in the wings.
These comics, their sequels, their spin-offs, the HYPNO KOMIX to come, the books yet undreamt of...
all this art will be "cool" and "crazy" and "fun" at the very least,
but it COULD add up to an aesthetic revolution, a revolution of the eye and the heart and the mind.
A HYPNOCRACY, if you will.
