About this project
MOLLY is a graphic novel project based on a true Vancouver, BC, Canada cold case. In January 1953 the skeletal remains of two young brothers were found in Stanley Park. They were murdered with a hatchet.
Despite a massive investigation that went on for decades, their identities remain unknown. In 2004, Katarina Thorsen volunteered to research the case with a retired homicide detective. He was following a strong lead that was eventually dropped. Katarina and the detective parted ways. A lead Katarina pursued on her own led to an intriguing possibility as to the identity of the mother (and prime suspect) who committed suicide shortly after the murders.

There is insufficient evidence to warrant an exhumation of the woman's body for DNA comparisons, but the connections and circumstantial evidence are incredible. The amount of research currently collected on this lead is impressive.

MOLLY will be a fully illustrated, experimental graphic novel based on true facts, but a fictional interpretation.
Anna Thorsen will act as producer, event coordinator and promoter. It will be illustrated and written by Katarina Thorsen, in a diary/journal/sketchbook format evocative of Lynda Barry's latest work. It will then be self-published in a small run in Spring 2012, promoted through social media campaigns and art events and shopped around to publishers. The funding will allow Katarina to focus on writing and illustrating the work, as well as allow Anna to produce and publish a small run and to cover promotional and event costs.
Note:
All backers will receive a mention in the book (if they so wish). Take a look at the fun rewards available for various donation levels! In addition, backers who donate $100 and above will receive a signed copy of the book when it is published!
All backers who donate $50 and up will appear in the graphic novel in a cameo role!
