Dear DancEthos supporter,
Thank you so much for contributing to DancEthos’ Kickstarter campaign. Because of you, we raised $4,550! That is 113% of our goal. We are blown away by your generosity!
We are happy to report that the performance you helped to fund, Part and Parcel – a shared evening of dance with DancEthos and Word Dance Theater, was a huge success! We performed for a sold out crowd at Dance Place on Saturday and another large and enthusiastic audience on Sunday.
The Washington Post described our collaboration with Word Dance Theater as "the pairing is on point." The Post also applauded the concert as "varied and thoughtful."
It was our goal for this performance to include the audience more and give them some insight into the creative process. We succeeded by: having each choreographer briefly introduce their work and shed some light on the context for the dance; printing some questions and ideas in the program to ponder for each piece; and discussing the works after the program in a Question and Answer session. The audience’s response to this was overwhelmingly positive! They really appreciated the information and said that it increased their understanding, and therefore enjoyment, of the dances.
Because we were able to raise even more money than our initial goal, DancEthos will be able to give each dancer a small stipend as a token of appreciation for all their time, energy, passion and talent. Someday we hope to be able to pay these brilliant artists what they are worth!
We hope to see you at our next performance, also at Dance Place, on November 10 at 8pm and 11 at 4pm. DancEthos will be presenting the work of four local choreographers: Valdimir Angelov, Christopher K. Morgan, Erica Rebollar and Katerina Rodgaard, in addition to works by Assistant Director Carolyn Kamrath and Artistic Director Tiffany Haughn.
Thank you again for your support! We are so very grateful to you.
